I had a great experience here! Unique sushi handrolls that are all gf and celiac safe. All of the rolls I tried were great, as well as the miso soup. The woman working was super friendly and told us the owner is celiac, they are working on getting a celiac certification for the restaurant as well! Would definitely go back here, so happy to find a safe sushi spot (it’s also very affordable!)
Sushi Counter is amazing! It’s on the same street as L’Industrie so you can grab a bite with friends. It’s a dedicated celiac menu with vegan and vegetarian options. The fish is fresh and pairs well with the warm sushi rice. One of the best parts is the 3 for $12 hand roll deal complete with a tiny tamari refillable pouch. I recommend the California and spicy salmon rolls!
This tiny shop is a great spot for a casual dinner — their sushi rolls are gluten-free, delicious and affordable. There’s only one bench for eating inside, but there are a couple of tables and chairs on the sidewalk. It’s all very low-key — no heating lamps or parking-spot buildouts. Also important to note: The soy sauce comes in a miniature fish squeeze bottle. So cute!
This is one of my favorite new gluten free spots in the city. The staff is unbelievably friendly, and the food is fantastic.
They do Aussie style hand rolls, which are perfect for a meal on the go. They make shrimp tempura rolls that are out of this world, and feature a roll of the month.
They also have a great punch card rewards system, which if you fill out gets you your Polaroid on the wall. Go check this spot out!
I’ve been getting Sushi Counter at least once a week since I discovered them in my neighborhood. I cannot begin to express how grateful I am to have this just a couple of blocks away from me, but I’d gladly travel to another neighborhood to get it if it wasn’t here! The sushi is, of course, absolutely delicious, and I’ve grown to actually prefer the Aussie style roll that you can hold (no utensils required)! The owner (who is Celiac) and staff are SO kind and the owner has repeatedly expressed that Sushi Counter will *always* be gluten free and safe from contamination, no matter what new menu items they introduce. The soy sauce (which is actually tamari) is so delicious and also GF, and they even showed me the brand so I can buy some for myself to use at home! This is my favorite little gluten free gem in the city. AND IT’S AFFORDABLE! I cannot recommend it enough.
Very small walk up restaurant. Think sushi roll bakery. Everything is gluten free! Was able to walk up and order chicken teriyaki and the shrimp tempura rolls and they were delicious! Heads up they do have packets of gluten soy sauce so make sure to say you want the GF one.
