These guys take allergies very seriously! All I have to do is say I have celiac and they immediately get the manager to make my salad, they wash their hands, use new gloves and usually have a separate dressing for allergies which is cool.
I love sweetgreen. If you order online you can filter everything by allergens so it's really easy to see what you can and can't eat, and also easy to make substitutions. Not a huge fan of salads but their bowls are amazing and so healthy!
Fresh ingredients that are almost all gluten free. Anything that contains gluten ingredients is well marked. They will change their gloves and use fresh tongs if you inform them you have Celiac disease. They are also very friendly and like getting to know you if you visit frequently.
I LOVED their salad here I had it for the first time in another location and went here for late lunch today. Other reviewers mentioned the slow staff but today they were all pretty on point.Maybe I just came during a slow time but my food came out pretty fast. Salad was fresh and delish and it was pretty good experience overall.
Staff confirmed my meal was GF with another staff member but then asked if I wanted bread when she checked me out. And I was sick afterwards.
Food is good. But i get glutened every time i go there. I wouldn’t trust the contamination chances.
Awesome place for GF. Almost everything is gf except for a few bowls with bread crumbs. They build the bowl right in front of you (similar to Chipotle). Very knowledgeable and the moment I mentioned having celiac, server changed gloves.
I eat at sweet green at home whenever I can, so I knew this would be a safe bet when in Boston for the day. Almost all ingredients are GF. I always say “no bread” just in case. Got my custom spinach salad and ate it in the Garden. 😋
Sweetgreen was one of our favorite salad places when we visited the East Coast. Glad they opened in the Bay Area. Ingredients sourced directly from farmers. Mostly gluten-free menu, and can accommodate requests to leave out bread or breadcrumbs. 👍🏽👍🏽
Most of their menu options are GF (and can also be DF). You can create your own salad too. I inform them of allergies when creating the salad. They change gloves, use clean bowls each time and leave off the bread that comes with the salads. There’s individual tongs for ingredients on the salad- I avoid anything that could be questionable or be cross-contagious. I’ve eaten here multiple times without a reaction.
I have been there numerous times with my family and we have never been sick. And we run at home a 100% gluten-free kitchen—Everyone has a gluten intolerance or is celiac. We love this place especially during the warmer weather.
Stopped in here while traveling. When I asked the person behind the counter to change their gloves, as it was an "allergy" order, he washed his hands thoroughly, changed his gloves and made sure no one else in the assembly line handled my order. I really appreciated his efforts, as there was a line to the door and everyone working there was in over-drive.
Their online menu allows you to specify that you avoid gluten and it will show you which menu items contain gluten. It turns out that very few of them do! They focus on salads and bowls and their dressings (all GF) are varied and delicious.
I’m so glad this place opened! There are only two gluten ingredients and they’re clearly labeled. As of this writing, only one salad has a gluten ingredient. Bread is offered on the side, so just say no. The salads are fresh and delicious and the service is friendly. If you like salads and light meals, give it a try. Highly recommended! The only caveat is that it gets super crowded from 12-1. It can be frustrating to get a table. Yelp is reporting issues with to go orders, but I’ve only eaten in the restaurant and haven’t had any complaints in four visits. If you can get there at 11:45 or 1:00, you’ll be good to go. They also have an app that makes it easy to order to go. They don’t take cash, just credit.
I like the Chicken and Brussels.I gave it four stars because - like at Chipotle- I am shy- and don’t like having to say- “Hi! i am very gluten allergic- would you please put on new gloves and be extra cautious to not touch gluten as you create my order?”
Informed the server I had a gluten allergy and she changed her gloves before helping me. Everything on the menu that had gluten was marked. Great salad
Clearly label which menu items have gluten (most don't) and all salad dressings are GF. Really good fresh food, veggie or meat options. Only thing to be careful of: some servers will throw a giant slice of baguette on top of your salad without asking!! So just make sure to say 'no bread' at the beginning of your order.
One of the staff members put bread on my salad after I asked her not to. Then she explained to me how GF bread doesn't exist and is a myth (fun fact: Sweetgreen in Palo Alto does have GF bread), and offered to have her manager explain to me why gluten free bread isn't real. Ridiculous. Even the manager didn't know what gluten was. And then finally she said they would not remake the salad after the bread touched it (again, after I requested no bread). I will of course not be returning. Please be careful here.
Many of their menu choices are already gf. You can make your own salads too. When I mentioned that I had a gluten allergy, both employees on the lines changed their gloves and washed their hands thoroughly. They used new utensils to prevent cross contamination. It's a bit expensive for a salad, but tasty and a safe lunch option
I have eaten from here 4 times without any adverse effects. Staff is very courteous and understanding about gluten and other allergen issues.
Unbelievable attention to detail!! I informed my server of celiac and she washed her hands and put in new gloves then conveyed that it was an allergy order so she walked the salad until the register. She then went over the menu in detail and asked if other ingredients were ok. Salad was amazing!!!
Healthy real food and delicious! They mark the menu if it has gluten. Very friendly and quite refreshing.
