I've eaten at TAP-NYC three times now for breakfast while visiting New York, including twice this past weekend. This location is near Grand Central. I love the Brazilian cheese bread pao de quejio (made with tapioca starch and cheese, in this case, Parmesan, Swiss, and I think mozzarella). The chain sells these breads but also uses the dough to make paninis for a variety of sandwiches. I had the bacon, egg, and cheese panini. My husband had the smoked salmon and cream cheese panini one day and the lean steak panini the next. I also ordered the basic acai bowl on both my first and third visit. I chose strawberries as my fruit topper both times, but replaced the standard granola the second time because I realized that the granola has gluten-free oats and I don't eat oats. There are a variety of other toppers such as shredded coconut and chia, but I chose the peanut butter crumbles as my replacement (they can also be added to the acai bowls for an upcharge, I believe). There are also wraps and another option (which I can't remember; I always order the paninis). I wish there was a TAP in the Boston area.
100% GF and staff is great.
Food was blah. Got the Tomato & Mozzarella Classic with added chicken and a chocolate chip cookie. I choked down half of the sandwich and threw the rest of it away. Took two bites of the cookie and tossed that too.
The chicken was a scoop of mushy overly seasoned shredded meat. The tapioca wrap was crispy but bland. The cookie was flavorless, dry and had an unappealing texture.
Açaí bowls looked good, but didn’t try those.
Delicious food and gluten free! What more can you ask for? My fiancé has celiac and was getting her hair done (mind you we are from Cleveland so everything in New York was nerve racking and the thought of getting food was worrying) thankfully we have fine me gluten free. Tap came up and the rest is history. She got a lean steak wrap and some cheese bread , as did I and it was delicious. She had no issues with the food. 10/10
This is a wonderful little place, 100% gluten-free Brazilian food. Sandwiches based on tapioca flour are incredibly delicious, either as crunchy tapioca crepes or as pao de queijo paninis, filled with all sorts of cheese, eggs or you-name-it combinations. Pao de queijo (Brazilian cheese bread) comes in three wonderful flavors. Loved it all!
small place but really fresh gluten free quick service food
