The cutest shop! We first discovered Tartistry at the Christmas market in the Distillery District last year. Such a wonderful thing to find gluten free pot pies and pastries along with coffee and tea. Lovely spot on The Queensway. A must visit for those looking to stock up their freezer or grab some dinner to bake in the oven.
Our specialty is butter tarts, about 15 varieties. However we make much more: quiche, chicken vegetable pies, tourtières, beef bourguignon pies, fruit pies, scones, brownies, lemon squares, corn bread and carrot cake. If that’s not enough, we have a vegan array of goodies as well as a keto line of products. Don’t hesitate to call us to ask about your favourite treat!
Amazing gluten free butter tarts with lots of different options! They’re quiches and chicken pot pie is also amazing. The service there is great and the employees are always so kind. 100% recommend for afternoon tea or a quick lunch!
Their pastry tastes pretty much like regular pastry and they are definitely very filling.
This place is fantastic. As mentioned in previous reviews, they don’t really market that they’re gluten free but in fact it is completely gluten free, when we went for lunch we chatted with staff and they confirmed it is a dedicated gluten free facility. Somewhat limited menu but it includes soups, cornbread, quiche, and of course many desserts. Lunch special was 2 tarts and a salad, we chose quiche and butter tart (see photo), everything was delicious. Lovely staff too. It’s worth the drive to the Queensway.
I also found their butter tarts at The Sweet Potato. Also look for their tarts at shows around Toronto, they told us they will be at The Royal Winter Fair and The Distillery Christmas market this year.
Wow these tarts were amazing both the sweet and the savoury !!The pastry is so good you could pass as regular pastry dough. Interesting and very eclectic place... shortbread was also very good too.I am looking forward to trying more items!
Tartistry, as the name implies, is a tart shop. They mostly make butter tarts (with a wide variety of flavors) but also have savory tarts and some other lunch items such as soups and salads. The place is adorable in a “Grandma’s country parlour” kind of way. They have live jazz on the weekends. They are 100% gluten free. They don’t advertise this, instead saying things like, “all tarts available in gluten free” and other round-about phrases. The tarts are so good that many of their customers don’t know they are eating gluten free tarts. They have the best gluten free crust I’ve ever had. I’ve been ordering their apple and pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving for years, and can’t believe I haven’t reviewed them yet.If you like tarts, or are looking for a cozy gluten-free lunch on the Queensway (a gf wasteland) be sure to visit Tartistry!
