This place IS extremely tasty but unfortunately it has glutened me twice now :(. The first time I went I felt sick about 2 hours later. I had it before bed last night and I have woken up feeling horrible. :( I asked for reassurance from our waiter about gluten several times and my burger was marked gluten free. I also got fries which they said were in a separate fryer and a Neapolitan milkshake so I’m not sure if those could’ve been the problem or not this time. Either way, I feel like I’ve been hit by a truck, and I’m not as symptomatic as other celiacs. Proceed with caution!!!
I have gotten sick after a veggie burger and tots 2x now. Each time, I have told the servers that I have a gluten allergy (this is the language that I find easiest, explaining celiac every time I eat is too much lol). The menu does not label allergens and there is no allergen information online beyond “we serve gluten free alternatives but cannot guarantee a gluten free environment”.
I believe the veggie burger patty must be the culprit.
All in all, I believe there ARE safe burger options for celiacs here, but they don’t have clear enough labeling for me to know for sure which options those are.
Went here before the Noah Kahan concert on 07/18 so it was fairly busy, but had no issues confirming dedicated frier and ordering GF. I’m not sure if the buns are just bread and I happened to get the ends or if they’re actually buns, but regardless the crust part was on the inside which seems super smart to me - kept it from getting soggy and therefore crumbly. Tater tots are super good too. A combo with burger, side, and a drink was only $12.50 plus I think $1.50 for the GF bun? which I think is super reasonable especially in the city
I asked if I was going to die about 400 times — waiter was still nice — and I didn’t die!! No reaction - 🐷 went twice no hives !! Separate fryer for the fries 🍟 !!! Waiter said owners super into GF - so thats pretty cool!
I got the Gorgonzola burger... And if you really like gorg you'll love this burger. The bun held up when I've had so many that just fall apart. I figured I wouldn't be able to get fries but he immediately said they were safe and still made sure to note it as an allergy. I haven't gotten a burger in fries out in years and I wasn't disappointed
Stopped here before a concert, got the turkey burger and fries. Burger was juicy and got truffle oil on the fries (my favorite!). Decently priced, and service was good. Only thing is it was very packed when I went (around 6 pm on a Wednesday) so I was literally bumping elbows with the people sitting next to me. Other than that, I’d definitely come here again. Didn’t feel sick after!
These are the best fast food burgers you can get. The restaurant has a similar model to five guys, but their food tastes better, has way more variety in terms of gluten free (they actually have gluten free buns) and it’s cheaper. There’s 4 of these in Boston and I haven’t had a bad experience with a single one of them. There are also two right next to the biggest sports stadiums in the city so if you don’t wanna deal with the hassle of getting gluten free food at the parks themselves you go can go here right before the game! Couldn’t recommend this place more if you want a good classic burger.
Waiter said fries and tots are in separate fryer. Burger looked like it was made on udis gf roll. Otherwise food was okay, nothing special, but didn’t get sick.
This location is right by Fenway which made it super convenient to eat at after a game or a concert and they are open late. Had a veggie burger (real veggies not an Impossible/Beyond substitute) with a GF bun. Tots and fries are safe which was awesome. Service is super fast!
We got two tasty burgers after the game last night and they were amazing! Sooooo good, highly recommend. The buns were clearly GF but were pretty good. Only flag is that I asked the server if the fries and tater tots were cooked in the same fryer as all their other fried stuff and he said they have one fryer for everything. FYI as I know there was some confusion in some of the other comments below.
I ordered the Onion BBQ Burger and tater tots (yes, a restaurant that actually has gf tater tots!!!). The burger was delicious! The bun was soft and fluffy - almost reminded need me of a brand I buy for home). The caramelizarían on the onions was good; the bbq sauce was good although I wish there had been a little more. The tots were crispy on the outside soft in the middle - I wish the salt to tot ratio had been a little higher. My friend order the Gorgonzola Burger. It had onions and a really good sauce. She said the burger was cooked perfectly (as was mine) still pink & warm inside. It tasted fresh, delicious and she would go there again if she lived here. She got the fries - they were shoestring fries that were very basic -but she loves a chain sit down restaurant’s fries. Her order wasn’t gf. The burgers come wrapped in the coolest wrapper that has all options marked on them. I don’t live here but when I come to Boston, I will definitely come back! There’s a meal deal called the Students (or Businessman’s) Special: Burger, Fries and beer or wine for $10. There are also other bulk deals on the menu. A fresh burger is a great burger!
I don’t think the fryer is dedicated gluten free as some people report getting an onion ring in with fries. I don’t like to gamble so I went with just a burger. They even messed that up by some teenage worker bringing me a gluten free cheeseburger. They did say that the buns never touch the grill so the grill was gluten free by default. I would be cautious as the workers were overwhelmed and the fryer is not a dedicated gluten free fryer. Overall, the burger was ok-not amazing but did not get sick.
I tried tasty burger yesterday, it was indeed tasty. My downfall was the fries. I had just about finished then and found an onion ring at the bottom. I had asked if they had a separate fryer and they assured me they did. Today I am feeling very sick, stomach pain and bloat. the GF bun was good though but I would stay away from ordering anything else.
They have the best GF hamburger buns I have ever tasted they don’t fall apart they’re amazing! The staff is very knowledgeable about what ingredients and which of their sauces contain gluten. The carmelized onions have gluten because they add a little bit of flour to them I was told. They don’t have a dedicated fryer for the fries, but they are GF and the tots as well. I have celiac and have never gotten sick from their fries. Great “tasty” burgers!
In the past 3 years of coming here we’ve been told like a dozen times that the fries are gluten free and fried in their own oil. Today the sever tells me they’re not gluten free and have never been. I don’t know what the truth is but it’s really annoying that the staff doesn’t know either and acted like I was crazy.
Great burgers and GF buns. The fries were good, but where fried in a non gf dedicated fryer. Overall great and the waiters were friendly, knowledgable, and helpful.
Live nearby and have loved this place since before I got my diagnosis. I was so happy to learn they offer GF buns, and they taste pretty good too! They also recently switched to a dedicated fryer for their fries, which is a nice bonus. I've been safe eating here even when ordering at the to-go window outside
I got the tasty burger and fries.. Told them I had a gluten allergy and as soon as I got home I felt very sick. Must have been cross contamination, but it doesn't seem like they take thing seriously. I definitely will not trust going to them again. So sad because it's always good to find a good gluten free burger while you're out with friends and not have to worry about getting sick. :(
I live across the street and frequent Tasty Burger often. They aren't lying when they say they make a tasty burger. Those with celiac (like me) do have to be careful. I've been contaminated a few times now, namely by the fries. Remind staff repeatedly to not put fries in the salt mill, as the onion rings which are not gf also go through the salt mill.
The burgers are delicious and I have been assured that the fries are gluten free. My issue is that I found an onion string in my french fries the most recent time I ate here after being assured the onion strings and french fries were cooked in separate friers. Time will tell if I get sick.
Tasty Burger has a delicious gluten-free veggie burger! It's the best veggie burger I've had (gluten-free or not). Their turkey burger and fries are also excellent. The gluten-free buns are good - and very filling. They used to have really good gluten-free cookies, brownies, and blondies, but they don't have desserts any more.
Came here based on other reviews. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Ordered bacon cheeseburger on a GF bun. Cashier asked me f it was preference or allergy. Tried to order fries, but was told they are not GF. She may have been mistaken based on others’ experiences, but was happy to err on the side of caution. Good burger, would definitely come back.
Not gonna lie, I was IMMENSELY skeptical of how safe Tasty Burger would be for Celiac --but I was pleasantly surprised!!
I used to go to Tasty Burger before I was diagnosed, so I thought that there was absolutely no way that it could be *actually* safe.
But after chatting with the staff and confirming that they DO have a separate, dedicated fryer, I found out I can have both fries and tater tots if I want!
I got a medium fry and it was as delicious as I remembered ☺ don't forget to ask for separate sauce packets, because the pumps are probably not safe (people touching the pump directly to their burgers, etc.)
Eaten here many many times without getting sick, very good procedures if you insist on it being an allergy and have the waiter flag it with gluten allergy. I was told they only fry fries in their fryer so it should be safe. They are sometimes out of gluten free buns in which case they will give you a lettuce bun (not ideal but still tasty)
