Review of Tavern On the Green

Avoid if you have celiac or a gluten allergy. Although we followed the same protocol as we do at all other restaurants, the food my 8 year-old celiac daughter was served made her physically sick two hours after lunch. So sick that she (and we as her parents) missed the Rockette's performance, the reason for our visit to New York. She spent over an hour in the back concourse of the hall huddled near a trash can and then passed out because her little body was so exhausted from the vomiting. Our reservation and food order tickets apparently properly indicated a gluten allergy, but someone decided not to follow the request. Whether they put the hamburger on a bun and then removed it or there was not clean oil in the french fry fryer, I don't know. I would not trust their kitchen and we won't go back.
