Taza Grille Middle Eastern Restaurant

Taza Restaurant provides delicious Middle Eastern food for those without gluten concerns.

Recently, my church asked to get catered food from Taza. The restaurant very kindly made food for us on a Sunday when they would normally be closed. My friend said that she had a friend with celiac (me) who needed the food free from all traces of gluten (she has been very aware of my needs and I eat anything she cooks in her home and says is gf). She was told that there was no gluten except in the pita and that was kept separate. She double checked with them both when she placed the order and picked it up.

The day of, I ate a small amount of the seasoned rice and meat. It was delicious. But then my husband and I noticed that what initially looked like varying types of rice could be pasta mixed with rice. I stopped eating.

The next day I felt usual glutened symptoms (which is usual timing for me). I called the restaurant and asked what types of rice they served and they listed rice with noodles and confirmed that the noodles were made from wheat. They said that the lady who ordered had said nothing about the order needing to be gluten free.

All of this is to say, that while Taza makes wonderful food, I would strongly discourage anyone with celiac from eating from the restaurant as they are not well trained or educated and may not be up front about their food.
