Teuchi Toru Soba

Just perfect! The visit to Teuchi Tura Soba was definitely one of the culinary highlights of our stay in Japan (also underlined by my not gluten free husband). The chef was knew exactly how to handle my gluten free request, in fact most of the dishes are gluten-free and there is gluten-free sauce (labeled separately). Tea, main course and dessert were all delicious and it was great fun to watch the chef hustle and bustle (impressive one man show). The service was perfect and we highly recommend a visit to everyone.

FANTASTIC!! We went on a really hot day and the cold soba dish was perfect. It was easy for him to accomodate gluten free/Celiac needs and the gluten free sauce was separate and clearly labeled. He had an English menu too. It was fun to sit at the bar and watch the chef prepare everything. Even if there is a line it moves quickly as he prepares everything efficiently. Would go here again for sure!

The owner clearly has perfected the craft of 100% buckwheat soba. I love that he uses buckwheat in everything. You get buckwheat tea to start then your soba dish, and at the end, you get a thickener (made from the boiled noodles) to pour into your dipping sauce so you can drink it as a soup. Clearly there is very little waste in this restaurant. On top of the delicious food, it is a beautiful and calming restaurant space in Kyoto.

Fantastic culinary experience. A one man shop and he prepares it in front of you. Noodles are all buckwheat so no contamination. Make sure you indicate your GF so he can give you GF sauce. I had never had soba before and the cold noodle thing was a bit weird but was overall a fantastic experience. Is small so prepare to wait and don’t go right before he closes.

Absolutely perfect. authentic soba, Perfect knowledge of GF. few seats available but, even if you have to queue.. definitely worth the experience!

We had to wait in line, but it was so worth it. The menu had a written section that indicated everything you needed to know as someone requiring gluten free. I was able to try soba noodles and it was such a treat.

The owner was very knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. The food of course was absolutely delicious as well. Buckwheat flour is the only kind used in the shop, and the only food items not gluten free are so due to added glutinous soy sauce, so there are no worries of cross contamination
