Server incredibly knowledgeable. On the NO list: soup, mashed potatoes, fish thermidor, the sushi and desserts. He advised against salad dressings due to both cc and prep—we really appreciated that attention to detail. Brazilian cheese bread is safe. Ran into another celiac person at salad bar. By chance she heard me tell our kids the sushi is not GF. She was surprised because her server said it was fine. It had imitation crab in it so please be careful!! We also decided to avoid the sausage just in case. Overall pleased with our experience but it’s concerning staff is not all on same page.
I can not say how impressed I am. I told the waitress I am gluten free she got the manager who personally walked me around the salad bar area. He sent plantains to me instead of mashed potatoes. Their mashed potato’s are not gluten free. He checked on me several times through out the meal. All the meet was cooked to perfection and all is gluten free.
We had a good experience, I’m celiac and the chef gave me a tour around the salad bar and explained what I should stay away from, wasn’t really much to stay away from. Almost everything is gluten free. A little more seasoning to the meat and that will take care of everything. I like season in my meat.👍 the waitress are wonderful.
We came back here in 2020 after a great experience last year. Not as good this time. They made a change to recipe and now the mashed potatoes aren’t GF anymore. The waitress didn’t know and told us at first they were ok. The manager had to rush over after she asked him to double check. The meats remain tasty and GF. The service on this night wasn’t great.
Original review from 2019
Terrific food. As others have noted, all the meats are gluten free and the staff takes care to show you what is safe on the salad bar. I took one star away, though, because none of the salad dressings were gluten free, which really limited the salad bar options
Almost everything at this restaurant is naturally gluten-free, including all of the meats, and the bread that they put on the table. I asked the waiter to walk me through what I could eat at the salad bar, and he brought out the maitre'd, he was extremely knowledgeable, and walked me through the entire salad bar. Each item at the salad bar has its own serving utensil, so cross-contamination is really not an issue. There are very few items on the menu that contain gluten.
Amazing food and service! Meats are marinated with salt, one meat had garlic, but other than that it is with salt only. The manager will walk you around the salad self service bar and tell you what is safe and unsafe to have as well. Sirloins, tenderloins, lamb, pork, sausage, etc. Eaten here a handful of times and have never had an issue. I have Celiac and am very sensitive. They'll make you feel comfortable.
This is a traditional Brazilian steakhouse where you are served a variety of meats from a skewer. The manager took us to the salad buffet to tell us what we could eat, and we were pleasantly surprised to be able to eat 90%. All of the meats were safe---and delicious! Even better, the bread is made from cassava flour, so safe. The manager was incredibly knowledgeable, and the service excellent.
Gluten free items identified on their website. ALL the meat offerings are gluten free. You won’t leave hungry. Hostess and Waitress very helpful with identifying Gluten Free
Went here for a holiday party. I talked to 5 different staff, couldn't get a staff member that even knew what gluten free meant. Finally someone handed me an allergen list for the salad bar that clear said at the top "Do not hand or email this list to the guest." It hadn't been updated since 2019.
I felt very uncomfortable and ended up eating almost nothing. I would not take the chance if celiac.
Online they have a full allergen chart so you can see what foods are safe for whatever allergy you have. Almost of the meats that come around are gluten free- I also have a dairy allergy and only a couple of the meats contained dairy due to a Parmesan coating. There’s still a good selection at the salad bar, but I always like to fill up on the delicious meats when I go. When you arrive let your waitstaff know you have an allergy and the manager will come over to give you a breakdown of exactly what you can eat given your specific allergies. Great restaurant and very safe, have never had a reaction when I’ve eaten here.
Overall, my experiences here have been positive, with 90-95% of their offerings being naturally gluten-free. However, there are some caveats for those of us with stricter dietary needs.
The highlight, of course, is the array of perfectly seasoned and expertly grilled meats served tableside. Almost all of these are safe for celiacs, but there are one or two options that are not gluten-free. It’s important to double-check with the staff each time you visit, as recipes and offerings may change. Despite this small limitation, the majority of the meats are a safe and flavorful option.
The salad bar is expansive and offers a variety of fresh vegetables, cheeses, and other accompaniments. While most items are celiac-friendly, there’s a noticeable risk of cross-contamination due to the inclusion of breads and gluten-containing items on the bar. Crumbs or bits of gluten can fall into neighboring dishes, so I recommend sticking to items far from those risk areas. The hot bar, while limited for gluten-free options, does feature safe rice. However, caution is necessary with the beans, as they may contain gluten due to added ingredients or cross-contact during preparation.
The cheese bread served at the table is a delightful, naturally gluten-free treat. It’s light, chewy, and a perfect complement to the rest of the meal.
One area where Texas de Brasil falls short is their lack of extra measures to prevent cross-contamination. While the staff is knowledgeable about which items contain gluten, there isn’t much effort to ensure complete safety for those with severe gluten sensitivity. For example, shared utensils or preparation areas can pose a risk.
Texas de Brasil can be a good option for celiac diners who are vigilant and able to navigate potential cross-contamination risks. Stick to the meats (while verifying which are safe), cheese bread, and carefully chosen items from the salad bar to enjoy a satisfying and mostly safe dining experience. It’s not perfect, but with caution, it can still be an enjoyable treat.
