I was told my the cook and corporate that they cannot make anything GF because they used their seasoning (which contains gluten) on everything, even the potatoes. They said there’s no way possible to get any pans clean enough to eliminate the seasoning. I will never return there.
Last visit, we were informed they couldn’t guarantee any possible cross contamination. They recommended salad without any extras. Wrote a letter to corporate. Did no good.
If you're a meat and potato person... Steak (non seasonings), baked potato, steamed veg/salad, and a few select other menu items.
The items on the linked menu (if ordered as directed*) are prepared to be “gluten friendly.” However, these items are not necessarily gluten free. Because most Texas Roadhouse dishes are made from scratch, cross-contact with allergens can occur. If you are gluten sensitive, we recommend you review the list of suggested menu items** with a qualified medical professional prior to consumption.
I enjoyed a steak, baked potato and salad and didn't feel sick afterwards. That's a win in my book.
They do have a gluten free menu, which is probably short enough that it could fit on a 4x6 notecard. They can make steak, pork chops, chicken, or steak kabobs gluten free, but they don't offer any seasoning. They would not even put mushrooms and onions on my steak because those were seasoned. They also had about four side dish options and a couple of salads. That said, the server was knowledge and the steak was good, though nothing I couldn't have made at home. The peanuts were a nice alternative to bread and made me feel slightly better about missing out on their famous rolls.
The steak seasoning is not gluten free. I ask for it cooked with butter and add pepper at the table, and it’s still super delicious. I ask for no croutons on my salad. The fries are in a shared fryer. The staff is a hit or miss on knowing how to handle the orders. It’s definitely a risk, and I have gotten sick a couple of times.
— No gluten-free information on the menu
Food is good but my Waitress was spectacular because she made sure no gluten was in my meal (butter has spices in it that make it not GF) she had them redo my steak because in the rush the cook automatically buttered it like a normal meal :) and she let me know what happened. I really appreciated the open communication when it comes to my allergy!
Although their menu didn't automatically include GF options, do ask the host/manager for their "Gluten-Friendly Suggestions" menu. Today was my first time eating here and the Grilled Salmon with Sweet Potato with Cinnamon Butter & Salad & Vinegar & Oil Dressing (NO croutons) was EXCELLENT! *Know although the menu states all their salad dressings are handmade, the Oil & Vinegar is the ONLY GLUTEN FREE option. (I wish I could upload the picture of this menu.) Entrees: *Hand-cut Steak (does NOT include Prime Rib due to the marinade not being gluten friendly) *Steak Kabob, No Rice *Grilled Chicken *Herb Crusted Chicken *Pork Chops, NO peppercorn sauce *Grilled Salmon *Grilled Shrimp NO rice *Vegetable Plate, NO fries• or rice (•shared fryer) I really wish they'd include the GLUTEN FRIENDLY SUGGESTIONS right in their pdf/online & printed menus! 👇 texasroadhouse.com
Very limited menu and no gf appetizers. Our waitress was extremely sweet and sat down with me to go over the options I did have from the gluten free menu. I didn’t get sick but I do with there where a few more options like some appetizers, more dressing options and gravy for potatoes.
They gave me my meal with bread on the plate and touching my food....the waitress understood that I couldn’t have any gluten and made sure to tell them, but I’m pretty sure the kitchen didn’t understand. Good thing I don’t get violently ill.
I have had the Grilled Chicken (no marinade), Pork Chop (no Texas Roadhouse Seasoning minus Peppercorn Sauce) and Steaks (no seasoning) with no issue. My sides are steamed veggies( no seasoning) and baked potato or sweet potato along with salad minus croutons with Vinaigrette on side
They can't grill anything gluten free because of the grill shortening they use. Also, their steak seasoning somehow has gluten in it. I'm not paying $20 for an oven baked steak with just salt and pepper on it. Also, even after explaining that I have celiac and that my wife and I are gluten free they brought us bread, which makes us think they have zero knowledge of what gluten even is. We left as we didn't feel comfortable with the safety of the food.
Texas Roadhouse is one of my go to’s when on the road. They are very accommodating. I am Celiac and very sensitive. When I eat at places like this I am very careful and usually order a steak with a plain baked potato and plain vegetables. I avoid anything with prep involved, salads are the worst. I never order a salad at any restaurant, too much prep, all done in an area with bread or croutons.
Came hoping I could get a safe steak and plain baked potato. The steak station is next to the baking station, like two inches no separation next to. Some steaks are roasted with marinade that has gluten, so the grill can easily cross contaminate. I didn't eat. And didn't bother asking about the dryer, I'm sure it wasn't safe. So yea on my way home to eat.
Our server knew a little about their gluten free items, but made sure to write down on the check that it was an allergy, not a preference- he was great. The thing I had an issue with was the girl who delivered the food, brought out my salad with croutons on it. I explained I needed a GF salad due to an allergy and couldn’t eat croutons... she then took my salad to the back, picked all the croutons off and brought it back... still with the crumbs on it. Um no, that’s not how it works. If I was able to eat it like that, I could of taken the croutons off myself.
Told waitress about CD dx. Ordered GF steak no seasoning. When it came out it had seasoning. We asked why it was so dark and she said it was sort of burnt but there was no seasoning or butter on it. I had a bite in my mouth before I realized it wasn’t plain as ordered. I’ve read that they add flour to their butter, but it wasn’t confirmed. Beware. Stick with a baked sweet potato w/ no butter. Side salad seemed ok.
The staff was super knowledgeable about their gluten free options and took great care in ensuring that I didn’t have cross contamination. I didn’t give 5 stars only because you can’t really have any seasonings at all. Their menu is small, however, they did a wonderful job cooking my chicken! I like that they are very upfront about it being more gluten friendly than saying it’s celiac safe of gluten free. So far so good!
Not to happy with Texas Roadhouse tonight. We never go out. I am afraid off cc and getting glutened. I ordered grilled steak and shrimp combo. I told them I can't have gluten and have celiac disease. They even gave me a gluten free menu. We were served our food quickly and I was starved. I was paying attention to my toddler and had one shrimp and discovered it was on top of 2 large pieces of garlic bread. I wait a while for the waitress to come over and I gave her the benefit of the doubt and said is this gluten free bread? Oh, I don't know. Well I can't eat this it will make me sick since the bread is touching the shrimp and steak. I waited about a half hour to receive my meal again. The chef brought it out and apologized. I had already ate the shrimp and dinner was ruined for me. Now I'm feeling sick from the shrimp I ate. I guess this is what I get for not paying attention. 🤢😐
Ordered steak tip dinner and it was horrible worst scraps of fatty meat I have ever had 😝. My dinner date ordered the steak tips with onions and gravy. It arrived loaded with mushrooms and horrible fatty cuts of meat scraps. If I could give it a star it would be negative stars. However the server was considerate young lady.
Has a “Gluten friendly” menu. Had the steak kabobs because it was one of the only things you could order as is. The meat was very tough and I couldn’t eat it. I’ll choose Logan’s steakhouse everyday over this as their seasonings don’t have gluten like Texas does. Cross contamination is high risk here.
They have a small gluten friendly menu. They do give you the speech beforehand that they cant guarantee it to be completely gluten free because it’s a shared kitchen. I had the salmon, baked potato (butter in the side) and steamed veggies. It was very good, and I did not get sick.
Multiple staff looked at me like I was crazy when I asked if they had a gluten free menu. Then I asked for an list of allergens in their food and they said they don’t have that information. We left because it was obvious the staff is not aware of basic allergens in food, let alone the measures needed when preparing gluten free food.
Horrible experience I got sick there twice, The first time I thought maybe it was my own fault for eating the peanuts but last night I ordered off the GF menu and explained to the server that I have Celiac disease and even mentioned that I got sick there before and need for them to be extra careful. Well they mixed my meal up with my fathers and came to the table 10 minutes later and said oh no I hope you didn’t eat that it wasn’t yours. The manager apologized and didn’t make us pay but I got very sick, don’t risk it. Not sure why they have a GF menu of the kitchen doesn’t take any precautions.
The staff was super friendly and helpful with making sure that I knew what was safe to eat and what wasn’t (I have a wheat intolerance/allergy) and they made sure that my food was safe for me to eat.
Limited options. Was able to have steak with no seasoning and steamed veggies and a baked potato. It was good but it was the only option
Even if you order a steak without seasoning (their seasoning has wheat), it’s still not safe for celiacs because they grill them on the same grill as the steaks with seasoning this insuring cross contamination... I learned that the hard way
They have a GF menu. Their food is ok to me. I've gotten different steaks from them, carrots, broccoli, mashed and baked potatoes. And alcoholic beverages. I've never gotten sick, not sure if celiac friendly. I just think they are a bit overpriced. But the atmosphere is neat.
My wife has Celiac disease. So she has to be very careful with what food she eats. When we got to the hostess station we informed them that we needed a Gluten Free menu for my wife. We got the deer in the headlights kind of look. Then one of them said that our waitress would provide one. We said thanks and were seated. After waiting for the waitress to show up, we asked her for a Gluten Free menu. She told us that they didn't have one but if we just tell her what we wanted she would let the cooks know. That's not good enough when there is a possibility of my wife becoming extremely ill from cross contamination. We won't be returning here.
The staff was super friendly and understanding of my needs (gluten free, dairy free and egg free) The steaks are some of the best I have ever eaten and the price is better than most restaurants that offer steaks on the menu.
My celiac daughter got sick from eating here. The gf menu is very limited. You have to order your meat with no seasoning. I'm not sure if it was the chicken or baked potato but she was glutened for sure.
