Was my favorite place to eat before celiac, they only have plain options for gluten free. Unseasoned meat and steamed vegis.
They have a gluten free menu with some choices.
If a steak and potato is what you want this is definitely the place to go. Our server was very careful to make my order as I requested, and she told me they do have a dedicated process to avoid gluten contamination. I would look at the website version of the 'gluten friendly' menu first, as it has a few more details than the print out. Basically it is best to expect to leave off any seasoning that isn't salt and pepper. It is difficult to get servers who are knowledgable about gluten/xanthan gum issues, but our server was patient enough to go over each item on my order to make sure that it was okay for me to eat, and that meant a lot. My steak, potato, and fresh veggies were all cooked to perfection. I am only intolerant, not celiac/allergic, but I am willing to bet this place will work out for others. Just expect it to be SUPER busy on Fridays!
I have gone there twice and what I discovered is when they aren’t sure of something they put it on the side of your plate in a separate container when they serve you your meal. When I asked if it was safe both times the waitress response was the same,”I’m not sure, that’s why I put it on the side.” Both times I asked her to look into it and one out of the two times, it wasn’t gluten free. Sadly this is something I have had happen to me at a variety of places so if somethings served separately on the side be sure to verify and insist on them being sure.
Texas Roadhouse has a gluten free menu but it’s not very extensive. The rolls are obviously not gluten free and there are not that many sides that are gluten free. I had a steak and mashed potatoes. The only salad dressing that is gluten free is the oil & vinegar.
I went to Texas Roadhouse and spoke with the manager for what was safe. She said veggies and non marinated meat. No seasoning or butter brush. She had an allergy menu. I ordered a steak and veggies/ baked potato. The taste was fine. I didn’t feel sick until the next morning. Migraine, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Cross contamination.
Read online that meats would be ok without spices/sauces. When I ordered, waitress came back and said chef says everything comes preseasoned. There was nothing to change my order to so I still got my food and even my green beans had seasonings on them. I had a few bites of my meal before giving it to my friend and was extremely sick the whole night. Don’t waste your time and money here
If you ask, they do have a (limited) gf menu. Their seasoning/rub is NOT gf, so I ended up getting a steak with just salt, pepper, and garlic that the cook baked for me, since their grilltop is used for everything. 3 stars for the really limited selection, but 5 for the staff for their knowledge and going above and beyond for me in the food prep. The cook urged me to complain to corporate about the ease of changing their seasoning recipe to be GF and more inclusive.
Very nice and knowledgeable. I ordered the filet no seasoning and a sweet potato with butter only. No reaction yet
Staff wasn’t very informed and told me they used to have a card but Texas Roadhouse doesn’t offer GF. I informed them the menu is in existence and showed on my smartphone at the restaurant website. Worked with me after just be very descriptive of what you order and follow what Texas Roadhouse has online.
They have a GF menu. It’s small but they have more that just a few items to choose from unlike most places. I usually have the salmon, veggies and a salad. I dislike that their butter had gluten in it. Because it would allow for more items to be on this list without it. I am satisfied with the overall experience. They were extremely sweet and accommodating. I don’t have celiac but I do have a gluten allergy. I don’t eat anything with gluten in it anymore so I don’t ask for precautionary measures to be taken. That you would have to look more into.
I was a little skeptical at first because I didn't think I could find anything that I could eat, but was pleasantly surprised. They don't have an official gluten free menu in the restraunt, however, online there are detailed instructions on how to order your food to insure that it's safe. The waitress was very kind and helpful too!
The have a non-gluten list that the waitress can give you and a system (including a button when entering orders) to signal gluten free to the cooks, so they understand what it means to be gluten free but don’t guarantee it because there isn’t a separate kitchen. Grilled meats can be done without seasoning as well as several sides. I had a steak, baked sweet potato, and steamed veggies that hit the spot.
Wonderful to know a steak house has trained their employees on gluten free. As soon as I had said no crutons the server asked if I was gluten free. He was very knowledgeable as to keeping me gluten free. Unfortunately the steaks aren't seasoned. And no gluten free option for breads.
Not GF Ordered GF salad . Came with croutons and when given to waitress they just took them out of the salad and served it to me. Debating if I should even trust the steak I wound be coming back. 1 hour later I was sick from the steak and veggies and mind you I didn’t eat the salad Would not recommend
Ugh! Asked for steak without seasoning. After first bite I knew it had been seasoned. I told the waitress I was sure the steak was seasoned. She went to the kitchen to ask the chef and came back and said they had not seasoned my steak. I was sick within 5 bites.
Our son was recently diagnosed with celiac. we went here completely forgetting about him not being able to have gluten until it was time to order. the waitress was super knowlageable about the difference between celiac and gluten intolerant. she let us know that they cannot guarantee that there won't be any cross contamination, but she will notify the cooks. she did tell us that they do have a separate fryier and recommended some items.

small menu but manager came over double checked order and was very attentive to the allergy. my husvand never gets sick!
Great place for your basic meat and potato. I've eaten at these restaurants before without issues. Fun atmosphere if you like country music. My favorite part is always the peanuts on the table. Menus are at the table as well and you need to ask for the gluten free menu.
Although this establishment claims to be Gluten Free friendly...I beg to differ. The waitress was rude and acted like I needed a miracle preformed. My options were 2-3 items...no exceptions were made to accommodate my allergy. I ordered the salmon and it was a very expensive piece of over cooked, dry taken out of the freezer piece of fish...yuck!!
