The wait staff was wonderful. However there was some missed communication with the kitchen staff. Most everything was good and made to accommodate gluten free EXCEPT for the steak. I got a 6 oz sirloin and it was very tasty, my first clue it was NOT gluten free.
The items on the linked menu (if ordered as directed*) are prepared to be “gluten friendly.” However, these items are not necessarily gluten free. Because most Texas Roadhouse dishes are made from scratch, cross-contact with allergens can occur. If you are gluten sensitive, we recommend you review the list of suggested menu items** with a qualified medical professional prior to consumption.
Ordered steak tip dinner and it was horrible worst scraps of fatty meat I have ever had 😝. My dinner date ordered the steak tips with onions and gravy. It arrived loaded with mushrooms and horrible fatty cuts of meat scraps. If I could give it a star it would be negative stars. However the server was considerate young lady.
Has a “Gluten friendly” menu. Had the steak kabobs because it was one of the only things you could order as is. The meat was very tough and I couldn’t eat it. I’ll choose Logan’s steakhouse everyday over this as their seasonings don’t have gluten like Texas does. Cross contamination is high risk here.
They have a small gluten friendly menu. They do give you the speech beforehand that they cant guarantee it to be completely gluten free because it’s a shared kitchen. I had the salmon, baked potato (butter in the side) and steamed veggies. It was very good, and I did not get sick.
Multiple staff looked at me like I was crazy when I asked if they had a gluten free menu. Then I asked for an list of allergens in their food and they said they don’t have that information. We left because it was obvious the staff is not aware of basic allergens in food, let alone the measures needed when preparing gluten free food.
Horrible experience I got sick there twice, The first time I thought maybe it was my own fault for eating the peanuts but last night I ordered off the GF menu and explained to the server that I have Celiac disease and even mentioned that I got sick there before and need for them to be extra careful. Well they mixed my meal up with my fathers and came to the table 10 minutes later and said oh no I hope you didn’t eat that it wasn’t yours. The manager apologized and didn’t make us pay but I got very sick, don’t risk it. Not sure why they have a GF menu of the kitchen doesn’t take any precautions.
The staff was super friendly and helpful with making sure that I knew what was safe to eat and what wasn’t (I have a wheat intolerance/allergy) and they made sure that my food was safe for me to eat.
Limited options. Was able to have steak with no seasoning and steamed veggies and a baked potato. It was good but it was the only option
Even if you order a steak without seasoning (their seasoning has wheat), it’s still not safe for celiacs because they grill them on the same grill as the steaks with seasoning this insuring cross contamination... I learned that the hard way
They have a GF menu. Their food is ok to me. I've gotten different steaks from them, carrots, broccoli, mashed and baked potatoes. And alcoholic beverages. I've never gotten sick, not sure if celiac friendly. I just think they are a bit overpriced. But the atmosphere is neat.
My wife has Celiac disease. So she has to be very careful with what food she eats. When we got to the hostess station we informed them that we needed a Gluten Free menu for my wife. We got the deer in the headlights kind of look. Then one of them said that our waitress would provide one. We said thanks and were seated. After waiting for the waitress to show up, we asked her for a Gluten Free menu. She told us that they didn't have one but if we just tell her what we wanted she would let the cooks know. That's not good enough when there is a possibility of my wife becoming extremely ill from cross contamination. We won't be returning here.
The staff was super friendly and understanding of my needs (gluten free, dairy free and egg free) The steaks are some of the best I have ever eaten and the price is better than most restaurants that offer steaks on the menu.
Decent GF menu selection, as long as you are going for steaks. I did have a few symptoms the next day, I think it was from eating the peanuts. The servers were knowledgeable and respectful. I would confidantly eat here again, skipping the peanuts though.
Meals are not gluten free. Butter is not even gluten free. The Manager stated that everything is mixed in bowls that are used with flour. Salad dressings are made in house and are mixed in these same bowls the service manager stated also. Only thing that is gluten free is a plain baked potato or sweet potato, steak and mixed veggies. The butter even has flour in it!
They have a gluten “friendly” menu at Texas Roadhouse. Basically very few items are available for someone with celiac. Ribs are NOT gluten free. How difficult would it be to have a barbecue sauce that is gluten free? I’ll never eat here again.
I was automatically singled out and didn’t feel welcomed when I walked in when I asked the hostess if they had a gluten-free menu. They don’t btw and apparently gluten-free isn’t a term everyone knows. The waitress was a bit more accommodating but very much stressed the fact that they can’t make any guarantees that there won’t be any cross contamination.
Not many GF options. Cross contamination possible on most items. I had a salad no croutons and a baked potato, seemed ok.
gluten friendly menu. cant guarantee gluten free because of cross contamination steak can be prepared without their seasoning and their seasoned butter. sides include baked potato, sweet potato, veggies and salad
Staff extremely helpful. Mentioned gluten free on arrival and a member of staff came to the table with their allergens manual and assisted with the order. When it arrived, the food was excellent.
We use to eat here all the time. After going GF the staff told me lots of things were GF. Months later we had a more knowledgeable staff member work with us and there was gluten in what I thought was GF there. I was disappointed . We had to leave because I couldn't order any of the things I wanted. All the seasoning on the meat has gluten. Which means anything cooked on the grill is a no go. The Caesar dressing also has gluten. Which was my favorite thing there :( I would say not celiac safe.
If a steak and potato is what you want this is definitely the place to go. Our server was very careful to make my order as I requested, and she told me they do have a dedicated process to avoid gluten contamination. I would look at the website version of the 'gluten friendly' menu first, as it has a few more details than the print out. Basically it is best to expect to leave off any seasoning that isn't salt and pepper. It is difficult to get servers who are knowledgable about gluten/xanthan gum issues, but our server was patient enough to go over each item on my order to make sure that it was okay for me to eat, and that meant a lot. My steak, potato, and fresh veggies were all cooked to perfection. I am only intolerant, not celiac/allergic, but I am willing to bet this place will work out for others. Just expect it to be SUPER busy on Fridays!
I have gone there twice and what I discovered is when they aren’t sure of something they put it on the side of your plate in a separate container when they serve you your meal. When I asked if it was safe both times the waitress response was the same,”I’m not sure, that’s why I put it on the side.” Both times I asked her to look into it and one out of the two times, it wasn’t gluten free. Sadly this is something I have had happen to me at a variety of places so if somethings served separately on the side be sure to verify and insist on them being sure.
Texas Roadhouse has a gluten free menu but it’s not very extensive. The rolls are obviously not gluten free and there are not that many sides that are gluten free. I had a steak and mashed potatoes. The only salad dressing that is gluten free is the oil & vinegar.
I went to Texas Roadhouse and spoke with the manager for what was safe. She said veggies and non marinated meat. No seasoning or butter brush. She had an allergy menu. I ordered a steak and veggies/ baked potato. The taste was fine. I didn’t feel sick until the next morning. Migraine, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Cross contamination.
Read online that meats would be ok without spices/sauces. When I ordered, waitress came back and said chef says everything comes preseasoned. There was nothing to change my order to so I still got my food and even my green beans had seasonings on them. I had a few bites of my meal before giving it to my friend and was extremely sick the whole night. Don’t waste your time and money here
If you ask, they do have a (limited) gf menu. Their seasoning/rub is NOT gf, so I ended up getting a steak with just salt, pepper, and garlic that the cook baked for me, since their grilltop is used for everything. 3 stars for the really limited selection, but 5 for the staff for their knowledge and going above and beyond for me in the food prep. The cook urged me to complain to corporate about the ease of changing their seasoning recipe to be GF and more inclusive.
