Thai 9 has a sort of cult following in the Dayton area, so I stopped in for lunch to see what the buzz was about. Our server was friendly and more than willing to ask the kitchen staff about ingredients and possible gluten-free options. No GF menu, no dedicated GF fryer. According to our server, most of their meats and tofu are marinated and/or coated in sauces that contain wheat and many of their sushi rolls contain glutenous imitation crab meat. Despite having a relatively large menu, the only safe options for me were the Pad Thai (minus soy sauce) and salmon & tuna sashimi served with Tamari (by request). Plus side: The flavor was good, the meal portion was generous, and I had zero reaction to either of these dishes. Down side: Parking was difficult, ambience was a bit sad/tired, and I just can’t see myself coming back to a place with literally only one entree that can be GF, upon request.
