Went here based on reviews, walked out due to lack of options. Said they couldn't really do sauces....

Ordered pad kee mao and summer rolls and asked for GF. Said they would be fine choices . Did not enjoy the summer rolls but the Pad kee mao ( my all time favorite everywhere) was great. Wish we had tried more dishes.

Food from Thai Lao three times (two carryout, one dine in) in the last three weeks while on a winter break. Different server each time; two seemed American born and understood celiac and knew their gluten free dishes, and the third, an older Thai woman, was helpful. Most everything except the wheat-based noodles and wrappers is GF. They have gluten free soy sauce, so that is not a problem. They know oyster sauce is a problem for us.

The food is very good, and I had no problems from the carryout. (Returns are not in yet on the dine-in.)

The pad thai is a good rendition, not tomatoey as at some places. The rice wrapper summer rolls are good. The panang curry is better than most, thick and with good veg content. The fried calamari appetizer (straight sticks, not rings) uses tapioca starch for the crispy coating; it's good, but ours was almost overcooked. Fish filet in ginger sauce was very good, and pad woon sen was a good version.

My wife had the spring rolls (not GF), which are similar to Vietnamese nem-- served with cucumber, fresh mint, sauce, and leaf lettuce, so they can be eaten as a wrap. The were reportedly good.

The restaurant is nicely located a few blocks from the Convention center, food is good and the waiters very nice. There is no indication of allergens on the menu, but the waiter was really keen on giving me gluten-free suggestions, ie meals without soy sauce (so mostly curries). I had yellow curry (potatoes, carrots, onions) with chicken, which was not too spicy (for people who don't like spicy).

We were in Waikiki for my husband's conference a couple weeks ago. We had a really hard time finding anyone who had any idea about gluten near the conference centre for lunch and dinner. We stumbled across Thai Lao, and it was wonderful! The wait staff was very friendly. They were quite knowledgable about what contained gluten and what I could and could not eat, and they were very careful, double checking each dish with the kitchen. The food was absolutely delicious! We ate here twice, we were so happy with it! Easy walking distance from Ala Moana Hotel and the Conference Centre.
