Extremely knowledgeable staff. Still impressed that when I first ordered from this place, they recognized I had accidentally ordered a gluten containing appetizer and they proactively switched it out to one that was safe for me. Now that I’m closer to the area, I order almost weekly. Entrees aren’t cheap, but for the portion size you get, you easily get at least 2 meals and then the price balances out. Plus, I’ve no problem paying more knowing I can enjoy something in peace. That alone is priceless.
Tasty food, no reaction. There is a $2 surcharge to have your dish prepared GF, including appetizers. They were busy when we visited but the food came within reasonable time, was accurate and delicious. Our bill seemed a little high but it was scrawled on a handwritten ticket so it was hard to be sure. Overall I’d recommend it as a safe and yummy option in the Chambana area.
The owner is extremely kind and very aware of allergens. She told me when she cooks gluten free she puts away gluten containing ingredients, to ensure safety. The food is amazing! Excellent Asian fusion, so plenty of options for your Asian food cravings.

I have now been living in Chambana for 5 years and I frequently eat at Thara Thai, I have never had a reaction. I am a highly reactive celiac, I once had to extend a vacation by 5 days because I was glutened so badly I was unable to move more than crawling from the bed to the toilet.
So anyone who says they have reacted to Thara Thai, I would suspect they have another unknown food allergy, or sensitivity.
I love the food at Thara Thai and always get fried rice. It's a major treat to be able to eat at this kind food when you have celiac disease because most Asian restaurants are off limits. The only reason I'm taking off a star is because Thara Thai has gotten so dang expensive. I was there in August of 2022 and my fried rice was $20 even, which was already a sizable price increase, but I was just there in October of 2022 and the same fried rice was $23.40 (so a 17% increase in two months when they'd already had a recent price increase); these prices are without tips.
We stopped in last night after a wedding — I was starving and was so thankful the takeout was ready very quickly! It’s currently takeout only but they boxed everything up very nicely while piping hot, and stayed very hot even after we got back to our hotel.
I got the red curry (comes with rice) at the medium spice level. It definitely had a kick but was very delicious, and I didn’t have any trouble eating it. (However, if you’re not a spice lover, definitely go mild.) Red curry is one of my favorite dishes, I might even call it comfort food!
The woman who took our order was very friendly and cheerful — she helped me with the gluten free options and was overall just very pleasant to interact with. When I asked about a GF menu she came over to help me look over their regular menu and to let me know which things they could not make gluten free. (It’s always to have a majority of the menu available!)
I felt safe ordering from here and did not get sick after eating.
Staff was knowledgeable about their sauces, saying that they made them fresh on site other than what was on the table as a condiments. Also offered to bring a gluten free brand of soy sauce out. The chef came out to clarify my other allergies as well, and the dish we came up with was delicious. In the future I will note that all their curries have lime.
