This place is amazing! Owner operated, and his wife has celiac so he is very aware of safety of cross contamination. Great breakfast and lunch sandwich options as well as frozen prepared foods like lasagna, chicken, etc. dedicated gluten free fryolator. Highly recommended if you are anywhere close by! Btw really tasty choc chip cookies as well.

LIFE CHANGING. The owner has been doing this for his wife for 18 years, wakes up at 4am to bake bread fresh daily. I go quite a bit out of my way to get here. Must go for any gluten free people in Fairfield County.

That Awesome Deli is just that AWESOME! They really know their stuff when it comes to eating GF in a restaurant setting! The sandwich (both breakfast and lunch) were AWESOME, as were the GF blondies and banana muffin. My non-GF family loved their regular menu as well. Stumbled upon this while traveling via the Find Me Gluten Free app...best find yet! Just wish there as a That Awesome Deli near me!

Great deli! My husband and I visited multiple times when we were in the area. Nice owners, good food and very good cross-contamination procedures. Their gluten free bread is tasty (doesn't fall apart and has good flavor) and the deli meats and cheeses were high-quality (Boars head brand, I think). I especially enjoyed the breakfast sandwiches and the pizza.

I'm so lucky to have a GF deli in my back yard. Couldn't say enough good things about Eric. They staff is super vigilant about cross contamination. I have celiac and I've never had an issue. I love coming for lunch and grabbing a hot or cold sandwich. On the weekends I treat myself to a bagel breakfast sandwich! Good food, good prices.

I've been going to "That Awesome Deli" for a while now. Eric, the owner, is the best! As reviewed below, there are separate prep areas and utensils used for GF and nonGF food products. Eric and his sous-chef are meticulous about their high standards.

I've also tried his GF catering. The man can simply cook WELL. My wife and I had a surprise party menu that included his GF meat lasagna and a GF cheesecake with strawberry sauce. The party guests LOVED the cheesecake and were floored to find out that it was actually a GF dessert. AND, the lasagna (one of my favorite foods) was absolutely delicious. I was really glad that we had some left over.

On a lighter note, my wife and I have had many different sandwiches from TAD (breakfast and lunch). They're simple with all of the basics done extremely well. I keep going back because there is no other place like it around with such great food and great service.

Excellent place for gluten-free sandwiches. It's so great to just go pick up a sandwich when you're traveling. It's a little off the beaten path, but totally worth it. The owner is nice and says there is no chance for contamination because he has separate prep area for the gf food. What a hidden treasure!

In September 2013 we spent two weeks in New York and New England, and stopped by this deli on the recommendation of Find Me Gluten Free reviews while driving back to New York to catch our flight back to the UK.

I must agree with the other reviewers on here - it's truly exceptional! Not only was my gluten free beef sandwich amazing, but my girlfriend said her regular sandwich was also very good. Eric and the member of staff who was with him that afternoon were very friendly, chatting to us about our visit, gluten-free eating and the deli while we waited for our order.

All in all, top marks, and this 5 star review is richly deserved!

Eric is the owner. His wife is a celiac. His sons are G-intolerant. EVERYTHING is Gfree. He bakes bread fresh daily. He also caters, has frozen entrees to-go, and is a darn good chef to boot

It is so refreshing to sit down and eat out or grab food to go with no worries there will be a cross-contamination issue! The lunch specials are tasty, the gluten free baked goods are yummy, there are gluten free chips and snack bars, and the frozen entrees are awesome! When I was pregnant and on activity rest and couldn't cook, I ate the frozen entrees on a regular basis. There are so many options that you don't get sick of them either. Also, they do have VERY reasonable prices for catering and will do special order baking with enough advance notice.

This deli is worth the trip!!! It's very clean, totally gluten free, friendly and personally knowledgeable about celiac. I had a fantastic chicken cutlet sandwich and fries!! They bake their own bread daily. This is the first time since I was diagnosed that I have eaten out for lunch and I was relaxed and didn't worry about gluten or cross contamination. I felt like I was home without having to cook myself.

This is my new favorite go-to spot! The owner, Erik, really cares about his food and his customers. I took home some pf his homemade gf frozen meals last night and tried the veggie lasagna, which was delicious. Today, I went back for lunch and had a salad with his homemade gf dressing and some delicious homemade chicken curry salad. He offers "normal" and gf deli breakfasts and lunches, so this is a great option for work lunches and catering.

My son and I have Celiac Disease and follow a strict Gluten Free diet. We love the Gluten Free Food Factory/ Awesome Deli because we don't have to worry about cross contamination. It isn't often that you can walk into a deli or restaurant, order anything on the menu, and not have to worry about getting sick! Our favorites are the chicken parm, eggplant parm, meatballs, and lasagna. Of course my son loves the dessert items! I can't wait to try the new focaccia bread! I enjoy the cold salads as well, but the frozen dinners are the best! You have to try this place!

My son and I are required to be gluten free and are very pleased with the taste of the flash frozen dinners (no preservatives); and the breakfast and lunch sandwiches with gluten free bread. All the sandwich stuff, utensils, etc are kept separate too which is important for us Celiac folks (gluten intolerant disease which we have). We love good food and have a hard time finding anything that comes close to this taste and quality of the flash frozen dinners, unless we make it from scratch at home. This place is doing that.
