Staff didn't appear sure about what gluten was. (They thought it was something to do with not being able to eat pepper 🤔)
Staff checked with chef and on return they advised the only thing that the chef could be sure was gluten free was ham egg and chips.
They advised that they would have to check all the labels of the food to be sure which gave the impression this was too much for them to do. I did ask for an allergen matrix but this was not provided or they do not have one in place.
Had to settle for the what was thought was limited choice with the ham, egg & chips option. However, on sitting down we asked if the chips were cooked in a separate fryer and was told they were not, so had to swap this for a side salad.
Furthermore, we then noticed that on a notice board "gluten free pizza bases" were advertised so we were a bit confused as to why the only option we were offered was ham egg and chips.
Overall not confident that staff were sure of allergens or even trained to the legal requirement regarding main allergens. A lovely pub and place to go to but the food was disappointing and overpriced for what was ordered too.
