Surrender your credit card to the culinary gods and revel in the sweetness of their mercy, channeled through the capable hands of their executive chef muse. Heaven. Total epicurean heaven. This is the food I dream about. This is the food that other fancy restaurants try to make and leave you disappointed and lacking. Not this place. This chef knows his business. It lives up to its gustatory promise. After a meal that left us sated and ready for a nap, just when I thought the savory victories meant that the pastry would be lacking, I got knocked out with a one-two dessert home run. We had the chef’s tasting menu with wine pairing. This is expensive. All in, it was $760 for two people for lunch. Worth every penny. The last time I had a meal this good was in Paris, France. Run, don’t walk.

The Ashby Inn and Restaurant is a fine dining establishment and bed and breakfast. Disclose allergens when making reservations. We told servers we needed GF and DF, they explained each possibility on the menu and how it would be modified. We enjoyed salad, duck, and filet. Dessert was the only limitation and I am guessing if we had made our reservations earlier (we called same day), we would have had more options. They did have df/gf sorbet fruit trio which was delicious - blackberry mint, raspberry, and grapefruit. Generous wine list, no hard ciders. We would eat dinner here again. We also stayed over night at the inn and enjoyed the included breakfast. Chef choice garden omlette was delicious, as well as breakfast potatoes and fresh fruit. If you are looking for a special evening or over night get away, the Ashby Inn gives you wonderful service, lovely accommodations, and a beautiful country view.
