The Blue Hen Cafe

This is a very popular restaurant. Unfortunately, our server was not friendly when asked about gluten free options. All he said was “ We have gluten free toast.” Too bad!! Wouldn’t chance it if you have a gluten sensitivity or allergy.

— Below Average

One choice only that was not on the menu and it was avocado toast. Didn't take the chance to eat it because they didn't have anything else on the menu that was gluten free. The waitress indicated there was a septate toaster but was very uncomfortable. I brought my own food and ate that instead. They didn't even have mixed fruit. They only had watermelon. Place was terrible. Don't recommend and not sure why this place is listed on the app.

Waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu. Although I couldn’t have the potatoes, I was offered several other options to substitute. I had avocado on gluten free toast! Also, my omelet was delicious!

Celiac friendly?

Yes

Avoid if Celiac or high sensitivity, was advised that they make their own biscuits and flour is in the air and on every surface, no way to avoid cross contamination. Side note for those less intolerant/diet, there's no GF menu. Cute spot though and the server was knowledgeable enough to tell me to avoid.

Very limited options.. only had udis bread as an option and then ran out so they couldn’t make my food. Not sure why this is even on the app. Don’t waste your time.

Amazing blue corn tacos! Huge helpings in a cute a rustic space just off of the craziness of downtown. Good for breakfast, lunch, or both! Amazing find in the little cute town with limited GF options.
