Maybe it was just our sever but repeatedly told her I had celiac disease which is a severe allergy to gluten and cross contamination would make me very ill. An hour later our meals came out and my burger (with gluten free bun) was covered in fries from a fryer that is shared. Obviously I couldn’t eat it and never gotten haven’t try any of the food.

Boat yard continues to be one of Ithaca’s best - and their attention to gf matters is admirable. While menu not marked, server was extremely knowledgeable and double checked everything with chef. Highly recc. Does get crowded so come early or be prepared to wait. Fresh seafood and good steaks.

Though they do not have a gf menu (and nothing is marked gf) our server, who happened to also be gf was able to make suggestions. Some things that would normally be gf, like quinoa, has flour added as a thickener. No gf bread. Personally, I got sticky rice with scallops, salad and a poached pear.

The waiter here was great and was able to give me great direction with the menu. The sushi was incredible and they had gluten free buns for all of the sandwiches. They even had gluten free soy sauce. I would definitely come here again.

I had a great experience here on a non-busy (winter) Friday night - my server understood celiac and checked with the kitchen about the menu options I highlighted. I think a good experience at this restaurant as a celiac patron depends on your server being able to navigate the menu, but there are some fantastic GF options, including GF buns for burgers. They have a separate area of the grill for GF foods. They do not have a separate fryer (so no fries) but had GF sides to sub (seasonal veggie and cilantro rice). A section of the menu includes 4 “make it how you like it” fish options which should all be GF, and the server offered to sub in shrimp if I wanted because some other shrimp dish I liked was not GF. Shout out to the excellent manager who talked me through their kitchen amenities over the phone, and then asked my name and if I was coming tonight and invited me to touch base when I got there. It was clear that the manager had checked in with our server as well by the time she got to the table!

Based on reviews I decided to give this place a try. The waiter was excellent, probably the best waiter Iv ever experienced. He knew to stress to the cooks/chef my need to be gluten free and checked with them multiple times. I got fish and veggies in a lemon cream sauce and had no issues after.

Server was knowledgeable and asked for clarification when she needed too. She knew what Celiacs was and didn't rush us. Best meal I have had in 6 months!! I had the lobster lollipops.

We've had good luck here. I don't always find that the wait staff to be the most knowledgeable regarding gluten, but we persevere and do our best to educate them. The owner has also always come to our table to make sure everything is safe for our family to eat (we have other allergies) and I've yet to have a bad experience. They are always willing to make things certain ways and sub the things they can so the meal is gluten or allergy free. I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a nice sit down meal.

This restaurant is owned by the same owner as the Ciao Italian restaurant. It was recommend to us by our server at Ciao. Boatyard does not have a GF menu but the staff is very knowledgeable about gluten free and cross contamination. We had a great meal and I did not get sick. They do not have a dedicated fryer. Be sure to explain your level of sensitivity. For example I was able to have the spinach and artichoke dip but could not have the chips because they were fried in a shared fryer. The server was great and brought me veggies instead. I'm surprised I'm the first review of this restaurant. The food was great, it's a lovely setting on the water and the staff was very accommodating.
