The menu says it has gluten-free waffles for a two dollar up charge. The waitress confirmed they would be gluten-free and showed me which options I had. However, when they were brought out they were just three little Eggo waffles that have been put in their regular toaster for $12 freaking dollars. There was no mention that they were not made in house before. The waitress noticed I was disappointed and asked why. I explained. She even said that the manager has celiac‘s disease and something about the owner having a connection to it as well. It’s very disappointing that even when people with celiac‘s disease are in leadership at this establishment that they would not have real GF food on the menu, but stillcharge people an extra two dollars to have something they can go buy at Walmart. The waitress also said that the owner mentioned thegluten-free batter would go bad if they started making it from scratch because they don’t have enough gluten-free customers. However, it’s really the case that they don’t have enough gluten-free customers because they use Eggo waffles. They can just put it in a pitcher and dump it into a designated waffle iron and then put that pitcher back in the fridge. I’m sure it would stay good for days and it would be less money for them than buying Eggo waffles.
