Review of The Buffet Bellagio

While I'm sure the food is good, I ate very little. The reason is that I have Celiac Disease. Other buffets (Wicked Spoon for example) list what allergens (wheat, peanut, soy, dairy) are in the food item. Bellagio's buffet does not to any extent.

Not discussing the obvious no-nos of breads, pasta, cookie, etc. I'm talking about food in general. I wanted to have some chicken but had to ask if it was gluten free. Realistically it should be GF but they put soy sauce on it and that has gluten. So for the cost of close to $50, I could eat eggs, hash browns, fruit, salad and the shrimp. Otherwise, I had to ask and ask and ask if the item was gluten free. The servers behind the counter were busy and I got tired of waiting for them to be available and tired of getting the word, "No, it's got gluten in it".

But what was just as bad is when the server gave the WRONG INFORMATION. I asked at the dessert counter if anything was gluten free (other than the gelato which is GF). He pointed me to the ENTIRE SECTION of deserts where there was ONE ITEM MARKED GLUTEN FREE, but he told me THE ENTIRE SECTION WAS GF. That meant the cake pops and other treats in that section. Boy was I unsure and am glad I didn't listen to him because he was wrong. Only one item (the one marked) was GF. The rest, had I listened to him, would have had a negative and serious effect on me.

So if you're going to put someone behind the counter and be asked a question that should come up frequently - MAKE SURE THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT. That's why I stopped asking. I couldn't trust the server to know. The Chef did come out at my request and helped me with the desserts but by this time I was too fearful to try anything else.

Recommendation - go someplace else.
