The camembert loaded fries are unreal 😍 halloumi fries were also gluten free & really nice. Very safe for cross contamination, when I asked about gluten free they reassured they use a different fryer/clean the kitchen first.

Absolutely fantastic little hidden gem in York. A must for any cheese fan! Super clued up on allergens and cross contamination. The owner was incredibly friendly but not in a pushy way. He knew immediately which cheeses were not safe for coeliacs in the display fridge and could tell me why. The street food options of Halloumi fries & dirty fries were gluten free with a dedicated gluten free fryer. I went for Camembert dirty fries with sundried tomato & chilli - absolutely delicious!!! We are planning to visit York again just to come here!!

The Cheese Trader in York is a hidden gem that sells all kinds of cheese. They have a street food menu that you can sit in and eat or take aeat. It's only a small menu and a tiny kitchen but their halloumi fries and loaded dirty fries are delicious and fully gluten free.

The guy who works there is lovely and doesn't palm you off with the 'we can't guarantee no traces' line, he tries hard to cater for you. Everything else on the menu can be done gluten free if you bring bread with you (they're only a tiny place with a tiny kitchen so don't do gf bread).

Absolutely delicious food and worth visiting if you're a cheese fan!
