My visit started out comfortably, but ended a little confusingly..
I emailed the Cider Factorie asking if they could do coeliac-friendly meals, and the response was a resounding YES! So far, so good.
On the day, I told the waitress I was coeliac, which was duly noted and she discussed the menu options with me. Still good.
Unfortunately, with 7 of us dining, the first two to get their meals had finished eating by the time the last meal came out. I thought that was a bit poor. Then we ordered desserts, mine being a GF special sundae. What turned up had to be sent back as it had a wafer sticking out of it. They got it right on the second attempt, but it did leave me feeling a bit off.
On the bright side, the food is absolutely delicious and averagely priced. The burger buns and fries in my meal were visibly quite different to what everyone else was served. The ciders are also good, mostly not being sickly sweet as so many NZ-made ciders tend to be.
I still recommend going there to dine, just be careful to check you get what you order. And make a booking - you very likely won't get a table if you're not booked.
