Good on anything on the menu!
I used Couch Tomato catering for one of my events and the food was delicious. The ordering process was easy and staff was very friendly and helpful. The quantity of food was more than I expected, was fresh and hot, and had unique options that other restaurants did not have. They had several Gluten-Free and vegan options that tasted great. I will be using Couch Tomato for all of my future catering events!
We absolutely LOVE the couch tomato! 😀🍅Great atmosphere with high quality food, served by a friendly staff. Due to the organic taste, diverse menu, and great craft beer selections, this place has become a staple in Manayunk for my husband and I. We highly recommend trying one of their artisan pizzas & fries.
I had been here a while ago and loved it, but my recent visit was very disappointing. Tomato bisque was good but the pulled pork was very stringy, dried out, and overcooked. The bun that it was on (which I had loved before) was hard and dry. The coleslaw was so bitter that I couldn't eat it. Prices had increased. For the first time I didn't finish my meal. Servers seem to be knowledgeable, but food was not that good. Wonder what has happened but I don't plan to go again. Very disappointed as this had been my go-to place when in the area.
We have eaten here several times with our daughter who has allergies to gluten, corn, nuts and melons. Wait staff upstairs has been knowledgeable and handled all questions well. No problems ever as long as you discuss and stress need for separate pan or foil if getting something grilled
I have gotten glutened here multiple times when ordering out from the downstairs restaurant to-go. I have even called and complained afterwards to let them know and nothing changed. This is also after explaining while ordering that I have celiac/gluten allergy and need special care for my pizza and meal. I have eaten upstairs without problems, but glutened when ordering out. Get it together Couch Tomato!
They poisoned my wife about 4 months ago. They had dumplings on their "gluten free menu" that was definitely not gluten free, and didn't tell us until after she ate them. They are in it for the money and don't care about the people or their health.
I had the cheese board with Gf bread, and two pizzas on gf crust. The prosciutto arugula pie was amazing. When the waitress brought my husband’s soup she stated it was not gluten free which reaffirmed she knew to watch everything coming our table. I felt comfortable and had an amazing dinner!
I visited the Couch Tomato for the first time this weekend while my parents were visiting the apartment, in Manayunk, my boyfriend and I have just moved into. It is a much larger restaurant then I thought it would be (and good thing because we wouldn't have found seating). There were food options for everybody and everything was delicious!
Absolutely not Celiac friendly. We have been dining here for years and never had a problem. They have a new menu and have edamame dumplings, we ordered them tonight. Since I have Celiac, I cook often and I ate 1 and looked at them and said there was no way the noodle wrapper was GF. I asked the waitress to check the ingredients and sure enough, they WERE NOT GLUTEN FREE. This place straight up fed a Celiac wheat. They compt our entire meal, but that is a small consolation to someone who's life will likely be ruined for days or weeks. It is extremely unfortunate that places offer gluten free food without being knowledgeable. Our waitress was a total sweetheart with all my questions and Im very sorry that because the owner is a money hungry idiot, she didn't get a tip. This is the place my husband and I dined on many of our first dates and the night we got engaged. So sad.
I loved this restaurant! The food was delicious with lots of flavor and cute presentation! I loved the lighting and aesthetic of the place, it was comfortable and casual. It was hipster and cute with nice table settings. The pizzas and pasta options were quite delicious and shareable. The service was great and our waitress made good recommendations! I went with a friend who is an avid yelper and her coupon was accepted for a free appetizer or side (this was during the Fall of last year). They offer valet and have a bar downstairs and seating both downstairs and upstairs. I will be back !
Staff is knowledgeable however i have been “glutened” here on more then one occasion. A few times I caught it before eating it but i always question everything now. At the end of the day it’s a very safe place to eat (they take a lot of precautions) but mistakes do happen and i would reconfirm with waitstaff when your meal comes out that it is indeed gluten free.
A couple friends and I visited and it was so yummy! There's seating up and down stairs. We sat upstairs where there was high table stool seating. Very casual cute. The wait service was very attentive and kind. The food was really good. I wouldn't say the most amazing but it was really good. Admittedly, my friends and I are not gluten free. There were options and my friend had an amazing soup and salad (I tried some of it). I would definitely would recommend to friends as well as I'll definitely be going back soon!
I took my Mom and her friend here when they were visiting Philly. My Mom's friend has several dietary restrictions and avoids gluten due to IBS. The Couch Tomato offers gluten free crusts for their pizza and has several other menu items (appetizers and salads) that are also gluten free. The food is delicious and my mom's friend was very pleased about the gluten free entree too! The waitress was able to answer questions about whether or not the food had gluten. Overall a great experience!
This place is great! Being a vegan with non-vegan friends, I love that their menu has one side that is plant based and one side that is not. The vegan calamari was amazing, the texture was perfect and that sauce on the side! Yum. I can’t wait to get some more. Also, lots of gluten-free options.
The couch tomato has so many options especially for people with food allergies. I love having the option to get a gluten free crust. If you are vegan there are plenty of options to chose from as well. I am always satisfied with the food here and they never dissapoint! I will never stop going to the couch tomato and i cant wait to keep bringing my friends and family there.
Food is wonderful. Sampled the tomato soap and home aid chips. Both were wonderful. I had the bacon and goat cheese pizza which was AMAZING. GF pizza crust is made on-site and best I’ve ever had. I’ll will now dreams about that pizza until I return to Philly.
The Couch Tomato is one of my favorite places to eat, hands down. My favorite dishes are their salads and soups--both which offer great gluten-free options! Their menu is clearly labeled which makes it really easy to see what all is gluten-free. I will definitely be back soon!
We recently moved from center city so we were really spoiled with our food options, but we've found a perfect place for us. I am pretty picky with my food, especially my salads and pizza; it has to be fresh with a lot of flavor, which is exactly what you get at Couch Tomato. You also get a good portion size for the price. I love that you can make your own salad, and that they use local produce. I would highly recommend stopping by this place!
The Couch Tomato has a wonderful atmosphere inside!! Every item they have on the menu that I have tried has been delicious. I love the margherita pizza, the proscuitto pizza and their grilled cheese and tomato soup which are all amazing!! They offer vegan and gluten-free options so everyone can come and all still delicious and fresh! All their food is fresh because of the local and organic produce they choose to buy making them a very sustainable local bistro! Even though I am personally not gluten-free, I have had their gluten free pizza which I thought was very enjoyable! Some of my friends and family members are gluten-free so it is a nice friendly place to go where there are options for everyone!!
This is my favorite spot in Philly to grab a quick bite! I highly recommend any of their salads, my personal favorite being the Pear-Fection. Their pizza is also amazing, and you can get it by the slice! Great place, a definite must try! The location is also great, right on Main Street in Manayunk! Very lively and lots of fun around.
As a vegan, I love their pizza options. Their shiitake mushrooms taste like bacon! And their vegan cheese is different than I’ve had before. It doesn’t taste artificial. I’m hoping that one day, their take-out menu includes both the bistro and cafe menus.
I discovered this gem through Groupon and THANK GOD I DID. From their soup and pastas to their burgers and pizza, I have never eaten a meal at the Bistro that did not absolutely exceed my expectations. The atmosphere in the Bistro is so cozy- making it perfect for a date night or dinner with the girls (I have done both). If you are looking for a quick dinner out or a nice relaxing night, the service they provide at Couch Tomato makes either possible. I can't speak highly enough of this restaurant. If you live in the area and have not given it a try, don't say "I doesn't matter to me" when your man asks where you want to get dinner~
This was actually the first restaurant I went to in Manayunk and have constantly found myself running back for more! The tomato bisque is my favorite thing on the menu as well as their seasonal pizza and pasta options. Being a vegetarian, it's usually hard to find food but the Couch Tomato was an excellent find so close to the Jefferson campus! As for the non vegetarian options, my friends also love this place and they were the ones that introduced me to the restaurant. Every time I've visited, the service has always been super friendly and whenever I can't make the visit to the restaurant I order it off of GrubHub!
