I am a sensitive celiac to cross contaimination and ate here and did not get sick. Waiter brought manager who said her mom has celiac and was super knowledable. I ate their loaded nachos with several GFs ciders and was a delicious and celiac safe night.

We ate here twice during our stay in San Antonio and both times the food was amazing! Got the Lisa Special, sweet potato fries, and Super Nachos. Food is fresh, local, and outstanding!!! Servers are knowledgeable about celiac, GF and cross contamination. Best place we’ve eaten so far in SA.

I live close by and have been coming here for 7 years. Always delicious and have never had a reaction. The gf bun is soft and stays together perfectly. I also love the sweet potato fries. Very highly recommend!

The food was delicious and the staff was able to provide all the necessary nutritional and allergen information I needed.

I had the good a burger with bison. The burger was cooked to perfection at a medium temp, melted in my mouth. The GF bun was incredible, not the Udi's that every other place uses, which ALWAYS crumbles, not sure if they make their own, but it was awesome. GF beer? Yes please, Redbridge, omission and I tried the Stone IPA it was awesome. When I was ordering the gal taking my order asked if I am celiac which told me they understand and take special precautions. I cannot say enough about this place and cannot wait to go back
Yes
Only safe place on my trip to San Antonio! Thank you
Yes
Son has celiac and is extremely sensitive. We have been over a dozen times with zero issues.
Yes
They put celiac on my order so that the food was prepared correctly. Great burgers, nachos, fries, beer and dessert options including dairy free ice cream. Love this place!
Yes
This place makes the best burgers!!!! They have a lot of main entree options and dessert too. Cool atmosphere and a great place to just relax and hang out, have a few drinks. There is a play area for kids and dogs are welcome too. My family and I ate there 3 times during our week long stay in San Antonio.
We ordered:
Gluten free real burger with all the fixings
Gluten free kids burger
Sweet potato fries
Chips and salsa
Chocolate coconut soft serve
Yes
Delicious burgers and real fries (both regular and sweet potatoes). Also kid and dog friendly! Parking is crazy and it’s tucked behind a car wash and coin op laundry but is a bigger operation than it appears from the outside. Let them know you’re celiac because they said it makes a difference in their preparations.
Yes
Great celiac friendly options. My son is extremely sensitive and he’s never had a reaction. This is a place we frequently visit.
Yes
Any place that has gluten free twinkies is worth stopping at in my opinion. It was a cold night when we stopped in and my girls were ecstatic to see they had gluten free buns and desserts. They had a live band playing inside were the bar that sells wine and beer is located and we would have sat in there but saw the playground and the heating lamps over the picnic tables and opted for that so the kids could play while we still enjoyed the music. They also have an incredible beer selection on tap over past the play ground in what looks like a food truck. This place has a great atmosphere and so much to do for all ages. They even have a coin laundry mat just in case you want to drink and eat while you wash. Give it a try. The burgers were awesome.
My mom got a burger with gf bun. She has celiac and did not get sick.
Yes
The best place for a burger in San Antonio!! They have the best buns ever! Staff was knowledgeable and asked if it was preference or allergy. They even had a couple gluten free beers at the bar inside. My husband had the burger with an egg on it and I had the bison and blue burger. Both paired with Omission.. Mmmm... Atmosphere was great. They have a playground outside for the kids to play while waiting on food(or parents to finish enjoying their beer)
Yes
Menu is very clearly marked with gluten free options. I was a little nervous when I saw the kitchen, looked a little too "greasy spoon" so I was wary of cross contamination. I was pleasantly surprised though! Fries have a dedicated fryer, and my burger with gluten free bun was very good! If you want a good, greasy burger (which you've got to do every once in awhile), this is a good place to stop.
Yes
very kid friendly. they have a play ground! food was delicious. we got a vinkie for dessert (gluten free, vegan twinkie). so much fun and delicious.
Such a neat place with great outdoor area for kids and pets. Staff easily explained which items were GF. The food was good & the GF hamburger bun was pretty decent.
Cross contamination! If you just want to pay $2.25 for a gf bun, this place is probably great. If you have celiac, stay away. Wheat buns on top of fryers, same hands/gloves touching all food in an assembly line, grabbing each other's butts, eating off the plates they're preparing, one tiny grill for all food... you can wait in line for 30 min like we did, or just walk to the front and take a look at the kitchen yourself. I really wanted to like it because it's a cool atmosphere, but was too afraid to even eat there after seeing the mess of a kitchen. I'm not even sure how they pass health inspection to be honest.
No
Gluten free hamburger & fries with a good gluten free bun. They understand celiac disease & are attentive. Great place in San Antonio. Looking forward to eating here again.
Yes
Vegan bacon cheeseburger w GF bun is to die for!!! Nice that the vegan burger patty is gluten free as well. --hard to find that!!! I have to visit this place every time I'm in San Antonio. Gospel brunch Sunday's are a must see! ๐. Great experience all around.
Fun atmosphere. Family and pet friendly. Nachos were good, the yard bird was good sans bun. The sweet potato fries were so good!
Yes
I had the Yard Bird chicken sandwich on a GF bun. Hubby got a GF beer with his burger on a GF bun. They told me that their fryer is only used for fries. Interesting bar/bohemian atmosphere. Good place to bring small kids and sit outside since they have a playground in their courtyard. Good food and relaxed atmosphere.
Yes
I would give 5 stars but the price is a little higher than the $ listed. Once you ads $2.25 for a gluten free bun plus dies sold separately it can add up quick! Excellent meat though.

Came here while driving through San Antonio - what a great spot! The gluten free bun on my burger was great and I even got a good gluten free beer. It was a fun atmosphere and great place to stop for an hour or two before we got back on the road, with live music and a lot of patrons who seemed to be enjoying themselves.
I had the seafood sampler with spinach salad, agave wine-rita, and brownie. The food was amazing, atmosphere was very relaxed. I asked the staff several questions and they were very knowledgeable about their product. I had no negative reactions and felt very comfortable. If I lived in San Antonio, this would be a regular stop for me.
Yes
I had the 09er burger, no cheese, on a gluten-free bun and it was phenomenal! The wine-a-Rita was delicious as well. My husband is not a fan of anything gluten-free and he was raving about the burger. Great place to hang out and listen to live music, I will definitely be back.
Great! Anything on thee I can be gluten free. Gf buns and brownies too! Ice house type atmosphere. Outdoor play are for kids. Live music.
Yes
Always get a good hamburger with Little Aussie bun. Sweet potato fries and dipping sauce is the best ever.
Very cool atmosphere, great and helpful staff. Almost everything can be ordered gf. My hubby & daughter loved the gf bugers, the tacos were wonderful...just a fun hang out...2 bars with local gf ciders & beers...a playground for kids, a place for your dog's to hang out! when driving there we were concerned with the area but it was the best little find while in San Antonio.
Yes
great gf beer, but in NO WAY celiac friendly. high schools kids plus huge cross contamination = hellsnaw. GIG is the worst trading program.

First off let me say I am one of many now that suffers from gluten(Celiac) allergies. When I was looking up gluten free friendly places to eat in San Antonio I came across The Cove. This place is righteous!! The People are super rad and the location is unique in itself. They offer not only great food and drinks but to my benefit gluten free food and brew! Couldn't ask for anything more. I could only rate it as high as a 5 star but it's blown off the charts for myself. Grass fed meat, fresh locally grown veggies and much more. I am super stoked to know and to call The Cove from now on my joint to hit up. Can't wait to go back soon and enjoy great food that makes me happy and chillin in a rad environment. Much Thanks to The Cove and I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. If your is San Antonio The Cove is a must check out spot.

Great food. And a nice place for my child to play while we eat.

a selection of gf beers, but forget eating anything. divey with a huge beer garden. Wendy at the bar is great - she knows the flavor profiles of all the gf beers!
gig certification is such a joke. the staff in the kitchen were clueless
My favorite place in SA!!!! :-)
The place was fantastic! Not only is everything there organic and local, it was by far the best burger and best GF bun I've ever encountered. They had a selection of 4 GF beers and some ciders. The atmosphere is wonderful too! Not at all what I expected when we pulled up to a car wash and laundromat!! This is a must go to in the San Antonio area.
Yes
Awesome! Sooooo trained! Buns, burgers, fun dive!!!!
Great burgers on normal size buns. Sodas made with natural ingredients. Taste like regular coke. French fries cooked in seperate fryer.
Love it
This place is a favorite of my wife and I not only because the food is outstanding, but also because the atmosphere is lively and entertaining. It has both indoor and outdoor seating, with the indoor seating Looking kind of like a family-friendly dive bar with long communal tables. Outdoors there is a ping-pong table a basketball court (very kid friendly) and there is usually live music on the weekend evenings. The gluten-free lamb burger is one-of-a-kind and very tasty. Highly recommended.
I got the vegan bacon cheese burger on a gluten free. with sweet potato fries.... Yummo!!!!!!!!!!! If you live in or visit San Antonio I highly suggest eating at The Cove!!!!!!
Loved the naked burger and I'm not one for soft drink/ sodas but they are really good as well :-)
I love this place. I can get a gluten-free veggie burger, the best fries anywhere, and brownies for dessert, completely worry-free. They even have Dr Dublin on tap. If you like AWESOME places, give them a try.
great burger & GF fries too! atmosphere extremely laid-back. looking forward to my return
