I have celiac disease - and I must admit, I was pretty nervous about eating here. I knew that Disney World was very celiac-friendly, but we were staying at the Swan, and I wasn't sure if the restaurants in the Swan/Dolphin hotels would be as accommodating. I didn't need to worry about The Fountain, though! The waiters/waitresses had varying levels of knowledge about gluten...definitely ask to speak to the chef if you have celiac. Chef Vanessa is the BEST. She knows her stuff and was incredibly accommodating. The only items specifically marked "gluten-free" on the menu are the salmon salad (salmon in marinated in GF tamari) and a chip/dip appetizer. But they have GF hamburger and hotdog buns, and many of the sandwiches can be made GF...they also have allergy chicken tenders available.Chef Vanessa personally prepared my food in a separate "department," and made my fries in the dedicated allergy fryer in Picabu. She even came over to the table with her cell phone and googled the soft serve ice cream they serve, to check out the facility it's produced in and make sure there wasn't a risk of gluten contamination. Dairy products only, so we were all clear! :)We came back a number of times over the course of the week. I tried - the burger, the "big cib," and the salmon salad. All were delicious! Gluten-free hamburger and hotdog buns were great...better than any I tried in the Disney parks. For this celiac girl, it's a luxury to be able to eat a burger and fries, and I was very happy.I didn't end up trying any of the ice creams other than the soft serve, because the other ice creams aren't made in a gluten-free facility. I can't take those kinds of risks - but if you're non-celiac and have a higher tolerance level, I can tell you that they have ice cream flavors that don't contain any gluten ingredients...and if you tell them that you have a gluten sensitivity, they're happy to open a fresh container of ice cream for you/use a new scooper, so you don't wind up with cookie bits in your ice cream!
