They live up to their name of being friendly. Gluten free toast and pancakes, no waffles. Food came out marked with allergy flags.

i was just looking for a quick stop on the road that had gluten free options. i saw good reviews about this place, so i went. when I got there, i told the server very clearly and multiple times that i had celiac and needed to eat something gluten free. she brought out my food and i double checked that it was gluten free. she was kind about it and said it was. after a couple bites, i realized that the pancake tasted a little like it had flour in it. i checked with the server to make sure it was gluten free, and she came back telling me she “accidentally gave me the wrong one”. she came back out and gave me a gluten free pancake, which was really good, but still. i got a stomachache and felt really sick after. really disappointing.

Food was excellent, if you have a gluten allergy/celiac disease they use a completely different chef & station. The service was pretty good as well!

Staff was knowledgeable, accommodating, and kind! Many options can be made gluten free and food is flagged as allergy when served at the table. Super fun atmosphere too! Must visit if in the area!

Food tasted excellent but despite choosing options that were labeled GF, discussing with wait staff and having the food come out with an allergy label, I got sick. Super unfortunate.

I chose to go here based on so many positive reviews. I had eggs, sausage, breakfast potatoes and the gluten free bread (costs extra). As soon as I finished the meal I began feeling sick. Definitely was not gluten free despite telling the server I had celiac and needed gluten free.

My daughter has celiac disease and we had the best experience at The Friendly Toast while visiting Boston for college orientation. The host who seated us was friendly and knowledgeable about their celiac safe procedures. The waiter helped her choose the New Hampshire scramble which she loved (came out with a gluten allergy stick). It's small even with outdoor seating so there was a wait, but there's a lovely shaded playground and street benches just down the street where you can wait til they buzz your phone. Traveling with celiac is stressful, and finding a place that cheerfully accommodates and frees you up to just relax and enjoy a meal is a treasure.

Our 9 year old has Celiac and is very reactive. We had an awesome experience this morning for breakfast. We checked in on the waiting list using yelp on our way over to save some time in line. Almost everything on the menu can be modified and the staff was very knowledgeable. We ordered both our kids hot hot chocolate and our server, Bruno, came over proactively and said the hot chocolate packet did not specify that it was GF so he came to the table with it. Turns out it is Ghirardelli’s and it’s not GF. Shame on us but he would have been contaminated if not for the server. Our son ordered the ridiculously special banana chocolate chip pancakes with bacon and peanut butter on top and loved it. You would not know it was GF. The service was indeed friendly and it was overall an exceptional and safe experience. We will return!

I asked for gluten free, they brought out a pile of fries on my plate, which I know are not gluten free. She said oh the sandwich is, but the fries aren’t. IF I ASKED FOR GLUTEN FREE WHY WOULD YOU PUT GLUTEN ON TOP OF MY FOOD? Anyways, they brought back out the same sandwich with home fries. Thanks guys. You’re really doing a terrible job.

I will start by saying the food is delicious and they were accommodating to my gluten allergy requests...had huevos rancheros with gf bread because the corn tortillas are fried in cross contaminated oil. Why I’m giving 3 stars is because of the service. There were at least 4 servers on the floor at a time and I waited forever to even get water...then another 30 minutes for my check. Wasn’t even that busy so I wasn’t sure what the issue was. Would come here again regardless, but be prepared for lackluster service.

Great experience at the friendly toast! My sister and I are both extremely sensitive and neither of us got sick. Their gf pancakes are amazing and they have a separate gf grill, so the home fries are 100% gluten free with no cross contamination. I do believe though that their regular fries are not gluten free. They also have gluten free bread (and can be toasted with no cross contamination.) I will definitely be going again!

I’m sad to see other negative reviews, because I had a great experience here! The GF pancakes are divine and when I asked about the veggie bacon, the waitress went to double check with the kitchen staff to make sure she had the right answer (it’s not). It seemed like the staff was well trained and informed when I went.

I have celiac and was glutened when I visited here recently, unfortunately. Despite calling in advance to ask about allergy policies, notifying the server of my disease, and specifically asking for clean cookware/utensils, I still got very sick. I will not visit again.

That said the GF pancakes were reasonable, service was prompt, and the restaurant vibe was nice. Someone who is avoiding gluten for personal preference rather than illness may really like this place.
