A sign in window says “closed due to equipment failure.” It would be nice if there was something on the website to forewarn potential patrons, as well as an update for when it reopens. I would definitely be interested in trying this, but I don’t live nearby and only stopped because it wasn’t incredibly far out of my way home.

Star rating because there’s no notice of closure on the website, and I did go out of my way. I’ll update if I ever have the chance to try it out.

The owner has Celiac, and he prepares everything with love. The waffles are super. When you order a breakfast sandwich without meat, you get extra egg. The best egg and cheese breakfast sandwich I've had in a long time! The coffee they serve is safe for celiacs as well and is some of the best I've ever tasted, low acidity and very smooth.

Celiacs who miss fried chicken, this is the place to get it. It's so good, you're going to freak out. The chef is celiac and I trust this place completely. I try to stop here every time I visit Portland.

What a fantastic place to eat! Jim and his wife were warm and friendly! I highly recommend the chicken and waffles and the fish and chips! This is a dedicated GF kitchen. As a side note this is a food truck with outdoor seating. But don’t let that put you off. The Gluten Free Chef is first rate!!

Incredible breakfast place. The first place my great nephew could share with any of us. We had the waffle sausage breakfast sandwich, pancakes, the Kenni (waffle, peanut butter, bacon, and honey). Everything was gluten free and very tasty. 👍🏻 We arrived to early to try the chicken and waffles. Next time!!!

Best GF chicken and waffles ever! And the gravy is also amazing! Great food. Totally dedicated GF kitchen. It should be noted that this is a food cart so you'll be eating outside, but there is a large covered patio area with picnic tables.

Breaded chicken strips and french fries...Yum! Maybe not the healthiest cart in the world, but that's ok. Biscuits are also great on their own or as a breakfast sandwich.

My favorites are the chicken & waffles and the Ruben sandwich. Very nice owners. It is located in a great pod of carts.

Absolutely love this place! I'm from the south and being celiac fried foods are sadly nostalgic. I am so grateful to have this comfort food down the street from my house. They make it to order but it is well worth the wait! Chicken and waffles are my favorite dish but everything I've had from this cart I've liked. The owners are incredibly sweet. Highly recommend!

I'm sitting at gf chef waiting for my food. Seriously, one fryer? We ordered chicken and fries, fish and fries and a corn dog. We were told 20 minutes. It's been 25 minutes and we received the chicken. For a business that has specials from the deep fryer, you'd think they'd plan better. 15 minutes later came the single corn dog. Now for the food...opened the mustard dip for the chicken and found an ant swimming. Not a good start. I finally received my fish 50 minutes after I ordered. The others had eaten. The fish and chicken were good but not worth the wait. Would I eat there again. Most unlikely. Very disappointing.

Love this cart and the sweet owners! The waffles are delicious and it's nice to get some bacon and eggs alongside since so many gf places only serve baked items. Chicken strips are great too. It's not health food but it's safe and delicious (tho they have a couple of delicious salads!) We eat there every time we venture to Portland!

The most incredible meal, hands down! Not to say we haven't had wonderful gf food around Portland, but if you want to be in heaven with their chicken and waffles, come here. Also, the dessert waffle with the berry topping is a perfect blend of berries and sugar 😊. We are coming back tomorrow to try something else and to bring home some chicken strips to the rest of the family!

The owners are so lovely and helpful. We decided to take a road trip, so they created a picnic for us: chicken strips, biscuits and jam (best jam ever!), and a BLT. We were set for the day with amazing food. That BLT was delicious!

Part 2: Returned today to try the biscuits and gravy and another round of chicken and waffles. To our surprise, they made coffee cake after talking about it yesterday. Of course, all of it was amazing. We will come back this summer with the rest of the family!

Jim and Bonnie are the most g gracious people you will ever find running a good cart, and really care about the quality of food they are putting out for you. We had an absolutely delicious breakfast, and the coffee was AWESOME! My boyfriend is Celiac and enjoyed it all with no problem. He got to have so many things he has been missing...Cuban coffee, chicken and waffles, I had a breakfast sandwich with thick cut bacon, and Belgian fries!

Such a tasty gem! The owner was very kind to let us taste the biscotti and mini Danish. We ordered the BLT and the Timmy. The gravy was perfect and the breaded items didn't have that typical gf feel. Textures were crispy and didn't turn to mush. You could not tell it was GF. Also took home a cherry coffee cake. Highly recommend!

They really put care and love into their food and it shows. It's always a treat - and one of the few places in town that celiacs can KNOW (not guess) that they will be able to eat safely.

Beyond excited to be able to eat chicken and waffles! The food was so reasonably priced and delicious. Didn't realize ahead of time it's a food truck, but it's in a cute location and the weather was beautiful to eat outdoors.

Yes it is Celiac safe.. But far from the best gf food I've had.. Will not return.. Very disappointed.. There were 4 of us eating, we ordered 2 of the chicken and fries, 1 biscuit and gravy, and 1 "the Timmy".. Both the biscuit and gravy and the Timmy tasted like sausage tacos.. The meat was heavily seasoned with taco meat. The people (a husband and wife I believe) are super sweet, and their biscuit and jam was good..

The GF Chef is simply delicious! The GF chicken has a super crunchy crust and is fried to perfection! Ask for extra honey mustard dipping sauce - it is great! Also, the corn dog was fantastic-not too greasy, and the batter has a slightly sweet taste. It does take time to get your meal, but that's because almost every meal is fresh made - nothing sitting around under a heat lamp! And the prices are very reasonable.

Jim and Bonnie are gracious wonderful owners, our daughter has Celiacs and she loved the corn dogs, we had awesome Rubens, Jim and Bonnie brought free homemade shortbread fresh cream smothered in apricots to our table and chatted with our two kids. Wonderful people who made us feel like they cared and really understood Celiacs disease as Jim was diagnosed 12 years ago.
