Prior to my diagnosis, this was my favorite restaurant and I heard they had a gluten free menu, so I was excited to go back. Upon entering the restaurant, I informed the host that I had celiac. He then asked me what celiac was. When I explained, he gave me the gluten free menu, which is more of a guide to use with the regular menu. I informed my server of my celiac but several different servers worked together and it was clear that they did not communicate well with each other. The gluten guide states that the au jus is not gluten free but the bernaise sauce is. I ordered the prime rib with bernaise on the side. When my meal came, it had au jus which was spilled over the top of my meat. I immediately notified the newest server and was assured that the au jus was gluten free and that they had changed the recipe since the gluten free guide was published. The meal was delicious as usual but I felt the illness set in as soon as I got home. It is clear to me that this establishment does not understand celiac and the risk of cross contamination. I would love to go back because I really do love this restaurant but I’ll be reaching out to management before I try it again.
