Review of The Hungry Moose

Our 7 year old daughter was diagnosed as coeliac recently and while some restaurants do gluten-free food it is rarely the sort of food kids would be interested in!

We found The Hungry Moose online and emailed them. Chris, one of the owners got back quickly and put our minds at rest, talking through their controls for gluten free food (separate fryer, separate section of the grill).

We booked in for 9 of us (4 adults and 5 kids) and Chris made a special effort to accomodate our early eating time of 5:30 (to get the kids to bed on time!)

Chris was really welcoming when we arrived and was so good at dealing with the kids. At one point he came to the table to tell us that blackcurrant juice wasn't available and when he saw that all of the children had chosen blackcurrant juice he went off, made a few phonecalls and ended up going outside in the lashing rain to procure blackcurrant juice especially for the kids. This is just one example of how he went above and beyond.

They gave us some extra sauces, and some extra chips when they saw how hungry the girls were. Also when one of the adults knocked their coke over he replaced it without saying anything. And none of these items were added to the bill.

We had an amazing meal, the burgers and chips were fantastic. Our 7 year old coeliac daughter was so impressed she ran up to tell Chris and the chef that it was the best meal she had ever had.

I couldn't recommend The Hungry Moose enough. If we are in Kilkenny again we will definitely return.
