We came here for my fiancé’s birthday. The waiter was knowledgeable and a manager came out to review my order and ensure that everything I ordered was in fact gluten free. I had the salmon and it was to die for! They also have crème brûlée as a GF desert option, which was delicious. That was the only GF desert, and the menu didn’t seem extensive for GF items overall, but what they did have was incredible and most importantly I felt very very safe!
Wonderful experience at The Keg. They knew about my celiac from the reservation and brought it to my attention. The kitchen manager came out to review my order with me.
I got the top sirloin, fully loaded baked potato, wedge salad and a mini crème brûlée for dessert. Meat was slightly overcooked but it was overall a great visit.
Fantastic experience as always! They are so careful and accommodating. I had the sirloin Oscar with garlic mashed potatoes, delicious and they made my husband’s fries in the oven so I could steal some. They even brought me a free crème brûlée for dessert since it was my birthday.
I could not believe how wonderful my experience was here, from the moment we walked in the door. Very family-friendly, but also felt upscale enough to be celebrating a special occasion. Our server was spectacular and the manager was on it. She came over to talk through my order with me, verify everything was GF, and discuss precautions for cross contamination. Everything tasted amazing and they even gave us complementary champagne for our anniversary AND a dessert for my birthday. They got busy while we were there and we had to wait a while for our check at the end, but I would still go back in a heartbeat because of how well they treated me. I have never felt so reassured at a non-GF restaurant before. I felt great after, which of course is what really matters. Impressed!
I’ve been going to this Keg on Saint Paul regularly, for years, and I’m pretty sure I’ve never been glutened. The staff really care about celiacs, and they send someone to the table to assure you that everything possible is being done to keep you safe. They make GF fries for you, called “oven baked” fries, since the regular fryer isn’t GF. And it’s a very good, classic steakhouse experience! I always feel safe there, and always have a great steak and a great evening. This location is super cozy and is right in the heart of the “old Montreal” / old port area.
This is a wonderful steakhouse. As a celiac, they made sure I was comfortable with the procedure of what was being cooked and the ingredients. They were very aware of celiac disease and gluten tolerance. Another person in my party was also gluten intolerance and took it very seriously. My other members of the party were very happy with their meals.

Not a lot of Gluten free options but all of the steaks were gluten free. I had the Top Sirloin and it was really really good. They gave me oven baked fries which were delish and the whole meal was really great. They were very careful and their manager came and checked in which was great. I had the crème brûlée for dessert which was lovely.
All the sides are gluten free. I had the Cesar, and the filet with a twice baked potato. Our waiter and the manager made me feel very safe. Reassured at multiple points during dinner that my food was gluten free. When delivered to the table, they’d say it was prepared separately. And the food was absolutely delicious. Get the twice baked potato.
Amazing service! The staff was amazing when I said I had a gluten allergy. They were able to make the shrimp appetizer gluten free for me and it was amazing. The manager even came out to let me know that their staff was aware of my allergy and they were making sure there was so cross contamination. Also you can get the fries baked in the oven and they are better than in the fryer. Great experience and most of their menu is already gluten free. Definitely recommend!!
Staff very informed on celiac. The items on menu are not marked gf but waiter said mostly everything can be made gf. The manager came to me and said everything I ordered can be made gf and she was going to talk to the chef to insure my safety. I had the flank steak with lobster and grilled veggies and baked potato. Also had the wedge salad with blue cheese dressing. Everything was excellent.
It's a good thing my son likes steak because it makes it easier when dining out to find food that is safe for him. We had a nice safe meal at The Keg when we were in Montreal. They did not give us a GF menu, but instead had him look over the regular menu and they would adapt the dishes to work for Celiac. Since they don't have a dedicated fryer, they offered to oven bake his fries. All in all, it worked out perfectly. I appreciated the extra step of having the manager come to the table to confirm for us that they understood the need to avoid cross-contamination in the kitchen and that my son's order would be safe for Celiac. Definitely recommend.
Notre serveuse n'a pas sourcillé lorsque je lui ai mentionné que je suis cœliaque. Elle m'a immédiatement rassurée et a averti la direction et la direction des cuisines. La direction est venue à ma table pour me confirmer que rien de ce qui allait m'être servi contiendrait du gluten et la personne qui a apporté mon assiette me l'a reconfirmé. On a attitré une personne différente pour apporter mes plats afin qu'ils n'entrent pas en contact avec ceux de ma tablée. Je n'ai eu aucun effet indésirable. Que du pur plaisir!!
Went for a late-night supper for two in August. The waiter was very attentive when I advised him that I was celiac, and the manager came by right after we put in our order - to confirm that my order would be run by the kitchen staff to ensure no cross contamination. The steak 🥩 was delicious.
Recently diagnosed with Celiac, this was the first time I had to place an order in a restaurant with my food restrictions. The server, Antoine, was courteous and gracious and didn’t flinch when I said I had dietary restrictions.
He asked me to place my order and then a manager would verify with the chef to make sure my choices were safe. A manager came over shortly thereafter and confirmed my menu choices, left to speak with the chef, and then returned to let me know how they would alter my meal (in my case, exclude a garnish that was dipped in batter and fried) and asked if this was acceptable to me.
I was so relieved and it totally put me at ease for the rest of the evening. The meal was excellent, but the personalized service and attention to detail really exceeded my expectations. The Keg is definitely on my “Go To” list for dining out.
I have an allergy to gluten AND soy and the manager was beyond helpful. They were very knowledgeable about allergies. They came out saying the oil contained a trace of soy but they could scrape down the grill for us, which they didn’t and I didn’t get sick. Beyond nice and extremely friendly. Definitely would recommend this place and visit again
Absolutely amazing! The staff was extremely knowledgeable and even sent the manager to check in on me! He knew all the ingredients in the food I ordered. Totally put my mind to ease and I definitely enjoyed my food. Would highly recommend this steak house and would go back again!!
I was so hungry after touring Notre Dame, and went here based on reviews on this site. It did not disappoint. When I mentioned Celiac, they had the manager come to our table & ask some thoughtful questions, such as whether I would be sharing my husbands salad, or eating off his dinner plate. They made sure the entire meal was prepared safely. We shared the wedge salad with blue cheese, and I had a delicious dinner of pistachio crusted salmon, garlic mashed potato, and brussel sprouts with bacon. My husband enjoyed his prime rib & twice baked potato. We were too full for the creme brulee, but I was so happy to have a cozy meal out of the rain, and no reaction!
Absolutely fantastic! Best steak I ever had hands down! Staff was incredibly knowledgable, and gluten free options were clearly marked on the menu. The kitchen manager even came out to ensure that there would be no cross contamination issues. They go above and beyond! Wonderful and well worth the prices!
Ils ont fait attention lorsque nous avons mentionné que notre fils était cœliaque. Il y a même une manager qui est venue nous revoir pour nous réconforter sur l’utilisation du four au lieu de la friteuse pour les frites. J’ai vraiment été confortable à ce que mon fils mange là-bas.
