Cheese Fondue with gf bread. Really tasty bread from gf creations terrific ambiance. We went for anniversary. Have to go back just for dessert!
Ate the widest variety of food I've ever had at one sitting and did not get sick. Huge selection of GF options. Awesome experience, great service, knowledgeable and accommodating staff. Menu items clearly marked GF and accommodations/modifications listed where needed.
This review is only for the chocolate fondue, but I was impressed. We stopped in without a reservation and had dessert at the bar. The friendly bartender has a girlfriend with celiac disease and he knew all about it. He brought out a special GF cupcake for dipping. Of course I couldn't have all the treats, but I was really happy!
Fun change from the usual fare. I enjoyed a salad and the duck cooked "bourguignon style." The night I was there they were out of gluten free bread--so I skipped the fondue. You may want too call ahead to make a reservation and reserve your bread. The restaurant only allows one pot at the table at a time. I think it's about 4 people per burner. This is a great option if the people without dietary restrictions are willing to share the gluten free options with you. If not you have to take turns with courses.
Sitting here with massive bloating and gross symptoms from eating here. Didn't even leave the restaurant before experiencing glutening symptoms, bloating and massive anxiety. Waiter wasn't trustworthy. Brought regular bread to the table after saying I was celiac AND ordering everything gf. Even had him replace the fruit and vegetables for fear of contamination. Was vigilant with questions the rest of the meal. Didn't get the large plate of gf desserts either, only gf brownies, fruit and marshmallows. Super disappointing.
This has become one of my absolute favorite restaurants. They have entire dedicated trays of food for those who are gluten intolerant. They have the most delicious gluten free bread, brownies, and SO many option. They even tell you what to substitute on the entree menu so that you can eat! I will legit go here once a month if I can.
As for training this particular Melting Pot does not provide it. Twice now we've been here and had clueless servers. If they want to claim to be GIG certified they need to actually train them to understand what gluten was. I went with my friend the last time who is not celiac and they brought us the regular bread anyway. Even after me telling them i was celiac.
We always eat at a Melting Pot when we can find one! They understand GF and tons of options, including GF bread for the cheese fondue app, and gluten free cupcakes (like angel food cake) along with marshmallows, fruit for dipping in chocolate! This location doesn't disappoint! My kids are always so happy there!
Very impressed! I have avoided this restaurant for the past year, scared of cross contamination. I finally broke down and went with a friend, who also has gluten-sensitivities. I am sooo happy we did. Our server, Sean actually took the time to walk us through the menu, and needed no explanation from us at all- he knew exactly what we could and could not eat. I ordered a drink with Makers Mark in it, and he came back to tell me it was not GF, due to winter wheat used in production. So I walked away without any issues with the food, had a great meal and learned something new about Makers Mark. The Owner Mark, (yes, owner!) came to the table and made sure everything was ok, and told us that he has gluten allergies in his family, and understands the importance of properly training and educating his staff to accommodate all guests. Also worth mentioning, they will be happy to serve 2 separate fondue pots at a table if necessary, so the entire table does not have to eat gluten free! Will return again, many times, with confidence. Definitely a great place to eat and enjoy!
Fantastic gluten free menu - they have gf bread for the cheese course and lots of different gf dessert dippers (not just fruit - they had brownies, pound cake, and more!). They will also give you an extra burner to keep the gf stuff separate - even if you only have a party of two. :-) The servers are amazing and so accommodating- wonderful experience!!!
The staff was very accommodating for my Celiac disease and other allergies. They have GF breads, brownies, and cakes. One thing to note: This was the first time I had been to the Houston location and I did not realize that most of their 4-person tables share only one pot, and if you want 2 pots you need make that request in your reservation. It forced everyone in my party to order gluten- and shellfish-free food so I could eat safely. Luckily my friends were cool with it, but just keep it in mind if you're with less awesome company.
I have celiac disease and I've not ever had a problem here. If I'm a party of 4, I request a table with two burners to avoid cross contamination. That way I have my own dedicated pit. Menu marked well and the dippers for dessert were great. I love the cupcake and brownies.
So many choices and gf substitutions. Best meal since my son's and daughter's Celiac dx. We had gf bread to dip and even gf brownies! Our server was fantastic and VERY knowledgeable. The management came and checked on us several times to make sure we were ok.
portions were large. food was excellent. they were very knowledgeable regarding celiac sprue. the meal was perfectly paced and gluten free options abound. liked cooking our entree in broth as opposed to traditional oil, much healthier option. all in all, a very pleasant visit and we would go again.
From the conversation while making the reservation till the last morsel of dessert, I felt completely at ease about how my food was be prepared. I had the four course meal. There was Gf bread for the cheese dip made with Gf beer. Salad prepared just for me by our waiter. Sauces for the meats and veggies were explained and I could have all but one! Dessert was fruit, Gf cake, and the most amazing brownie I have ever tasted. All ready to dip into chocolate! Great place👍
I have celiacs. Everything tasted delicious. They were out of GF bread but had the GF brownies. The reason I am rating this a one is because I was sick within 20 minutes of leaving the place. I did not share a pot with gluten items. So I'm not sure if there was cross contamination with the food I got or all the items I ordered weren't truly GF.
Last night me and my mom n her bf and my hubby went to this place and one of the employees was a gay kept putting his nasty butt in my husband face and making horrible advances towards him.so I notified the manager who also was gay what happened he insisted i had to be lying and over charged my meal he treated us like we had aids or something also the waitress left us unattended for serveral mins at a time..awful experience Never going back!!!PPL DONT TAKE UR HUSBANDS HERE HE WILL GET A GAY EXPERIENCE THAT HES NOT WANTING !!!WOULD LOVE TO REPORT THIS TO THERE CORPORATE
Very gluten-knowledgeable and friendly staff. I ate there before I found out I had Celiac, then after, and barely noticed the difference due to the many gluten-free options. Highly recommended!
Their GF knowledge is amazing, and the cheese fondue and desserts are amazing!
My husband and I had the most fun romantic dinner, and it was all GF and safe. They have the largest GF menu I have ever seen. GF bread for the melted cheese app, salads, Lots of GF dinner options and for dessert, pound cake, brownies and fruit with Chocolate. It was absolutely amazing and Emily made our experience more pleasant. She is the best. I recommend 100%.
An excellent place to eat as a celiac for a special occasion. They have and extensive menu available for those who must go gluten free AND they do not "penalize" you for it by charging extra to get gluten free bread - very nice of them as we all know that it is more expensive than regular bread. You simply swap out some of the meets that you cannot eat for ones you can (I got filet mignon instead of the teriyaki meat). Yes, it is on the more expensive meal, but it comes with everything including your dessert and it really is a restaurant to go to for celebrating something.
Overall- my husband and I had a great dinner. They took care with the food- also remember that if you are dining with a Celiac, you also need to choose GF options because you share the same dipping pot. The only disappointment was they didn't have GF bread, even though I called ahead and they said that GF bread was provided. For a costly dinner- that would have been a nice touch.
This place is awesome, the food is so good and everyone is very knowledgeable about gluten free. I recommend this place.

Worked with Gluten Intolerance Group on their gluten-free menu. Special training is required for staff.
