The Olympic Tavern

Excellent experience. Gluten free bun on the tavern burger was above average. Turano brand GF bun. Dedicated GF fryer for fries. Wonderful GF chocolate flourless torte. Waitress said their GF pasta Alfredo is delicious. I’ll have to return another time to try that.

The nachos are gf and great!! I’ve had the spinach artichoke dip too and no issues. The Poorman’s lobster is my go to meal (cod, rice and green beans). The naked wings are also good (topped with some sweet baby rays bbq sauce I added). Love this place! I am celiac and do fine.

Update 11/15/22 - the chili is no longer gf 😞

Good food and the waitress was knowledgeable in what was gluten free. They also have a dedicated fryer for their fries so that’s always an added bonus

Food was delicious and the service was great! Friendly staff who seem knowledgeable about allergies and willing to double check if something sounds like it might be an issue. At the salmon with fresh veggies (no rice due to the seasoning not being gf). I have an autoimmune condition and have had no issues after eating there twice! Menu items are marked GF if they can be made gluten-free. I am also dairy-free and corn-free and they made sure my food was prepared correctly.

They have an extensive beer menu that features gf beer and many types of cider as well as cider on tap. They also have gf bun option as well as gf pasta and pizza. Friendly staff and one of the places in Rockford, IL that actually gives you choices.
