We had brunch at Penguin today. The menu is fantastic, staff very pleasant friendly and accommodating, food really delicious, and they can make most but not all dishes (eg pancakes) GF and celiac safe. The waiter knew all of the protocols to take to keep my son safe. Someone accidentally brought out the wrong plate to my son and put it down In front of him and said it was the allergy plate. My son was hungry and immediately grabbed one breakfast potato piece and popped it in his mouth and then Someone immediately came behind that waiter and took the plate away and a few minutes later brought his correct plate. So while mistakes can happen as we all Know, seems they have the checks and balances in place to double check and make sure. Also a good lesson as new to this life to encourage my son to wait a minute before touching the food so I can triple check that his plate is indeed the right one. Despite that little hiccup We will definitely go back again!
This was my best experience I’ve had since April when I was diagnosed with celiacs. At this diner they asked me if it was a gluten allergy or preference and they have designated plate colors for celiacs disease. The gluten free bread was wrapped and everything on the menu was able to be ordered gluten free with the exception of the pancakes. The food was delicious!!!
Amazing. Most of the menu can be made gluten free, except for the pancakes and homemade pop tarts. Both times I have gone there, I got the French toast, and it is amazing. The toast sometimes fall apart, but you expect that with gluten free stuff. It still tasted great. Very careful, when the toast is brought out it is wrapped up, and they have different colored plates marking what is gluten free. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable.
Under staffed. 20-40 minute wait at 2pm on a Friday. Only one wait staff. We had kids that needed to eat and we couldn’t risk not eating for possibly an hour. Traveling gluten free, we had to move on. Unfortunately this area, like so many others, have little staff and lots of customers.
I know there’s already a ton of reviews here, but they’re just that good!! I am EXTREMELY sensitive, even to cross contamination, so it’s often hard to find places to eat. However, I’ve eaten here 3 times with no issue, and I’m so glad I found it! Out of their entire menu, breakfast and lunch, the only thing that CAN’T be made gluten free are the pancakes. Getting so many safe options is amazing!! I particularly love the French toast :) super sweet and helpful staff - they even often knowingly ask if I have celiac when I mention gluten free, and ensure they add notes to my order and it even comes out separately, before the rest of the table’s food to ensure it stays un-contaminated. They usually do carry out, but currently do not because of being short staffed. However, the service inside is still friendly, fast, and overall phenomenal.
Fabulous meal! We ordered take-out for brunch, due to COVID, and were able to complete the order online. There was a special section to note allergies while ordering. The gluten-free food was clearly marked, and they even put the gluten free items in a separate bag from items containing gluten. The Nutella-banana French toast was amazing! Omelettes and home fries were also safe and delicious. For lunch/dinner, try the chicken tenders and fries. They’re amazing!
Tried the gluten free French toast and a cheese-free omelette. Not sure if the French toast was also dairy free. They will prepare to order and the food is delicious. Also like their dairy-free fruit smoothies.
Everything can be made gluten free other than Mac and cheese and pancakes. Staff was knowledgeable and made sure precautions were taken for cross contamination. Ordered lobster tacos which were very good. They only fry French fries and chips so they’re also good for celiac
Very nice place celiac friendly, fries are also celiac friendly Hours are only 8-3
Excellent dinner! Ambiance was good and kid friendly. Their fryer is completely gluten free so I could enjoy the French fries and they do chicken nuggets gf that are quite good and everyone in our party (gf and non gf alike) enjoyed. Burger they do with a gf bun that didn’t fall apart. They have many gf options for all meals. Definitely recommend!!
Our family loves this place! Nearly everything on the menu can be done GF and they can work with casein allergies too. And a dedicated fryer! Got to get the Little Fingers (chicken tenders), and I love the seafood salad - crab, lobster, and shrimp on greens with your choice of dressing. So good!
The regular menu had a handful of items marked “GF”, and decent ones at that - chicken tenders the most notable. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a restaurant offer GF chicken tenders! GF buns and bread were also available for the burgers and sandwiches on the menu. And I know it’s a little thing, but it was nice to be able to look at the regular menu, instead of having to ask for and to look at a separate GF menu. My kids and I are gluten sensitive, and not celiac, so we can be more loose about these things, so I did not ask detailed questions - e.g. is there a dedicated fryer, dedicated counter space etc. - so definitely call ahead to confirm that what previous reviewers have said about this is still true. And from a foodie perspective, their burgers were great! I got the GF chopped salad, and my kids each had a GF burger - of which I of course took a bite. ;)
