Many gluten free options. Shrimp and grits were ok. My daughter did not get glutened after eating here

The kids loved the theme here but their GF kids choices are not great. Just grilled chicken and salad/veggies. We let our girls split a steak and both our seafood meals were good. Mine was broiled, with mashed potatoes and veggies. The theme is the top reason to go here followed by the food. New menu picture added since it marks the GF items instead of the old ones previously shown. No GF buns as an old burger picture on the app shows.

Not anywhere as good as it used to be. It was my favorite restaurant in Savannah but now it’s just over priced and bland and mediocre food. Everyone in our party agreed. Even the theme was stripped out, only she’ll of it’s former self. Such a shame.
Wouldn’t bother for GF or gluten eaters.

Meh.
Most of food options marked GF result in meal being stripped back to grilled and sauce. If you have kids that would enjoy the pirate theme, it would be good.
If you are okay with 2 people, plain grilled dishes and a $100 meal with no apps, desserts or drinks (this is what we paid), then you're good.
I dont regret going, but I wouldnt recommend it. Better food with better options exist in this area.

Meh. I super appreciate that GF adjustments are marked, but it seemed like every adjustment was to grill or leave off sauce. I ended up with grilled chicken breast instead of fried chicken. They were dry and needed salt. I wish I had tried the shrimp and grits.

I have given this place a chance twice. The ambiance is really cool and definitely take the little history tour. The first time I ate here I felt ok. The second time not so much. However both times to food wasn't anything special. Over priced and bland and greasy

Tons of stuff that can be prepared gf clearly labeled, and descriptions of how it’s done right there on the menu. The waiter was very knowledgeable and told us how seriously the kitchen took it when you tell them you are celiac. The food was good and the fruit was fresh. Also there are people dressed as pirates which is always a plus :) Additionally my reaction to the food can’t be trusted because I’m very contaminated so keep that in mind. It did seem very safe tho.

Great place to eat, waitress was very helpful, menu well marked. I had the shrimp afredo. Which was wonderful. She even double checked to make sure that the pasta was not made in the same water as wheat pasta. Highly impressed. I’m very sensitive and Did Not get sick!

Good food. I am highly sensitive and didn't get sick. The waitress was very knowledgeable and good food. The fries are fried in a separate fryer and taste like Arby's fries.

Kinda weird experience. Not much starred on the menu as 'can be made as a gf option', so I went with the comfort food gf buttermilk dredged breaded crispy fried chicken fingers and fries. I asked the server, so even the fries are in a dedicated frier? He said 'they take allergies very seriously here'. So I was like, cool. He ended up bringing me a plate of grilled chicken and a bowl of fruit. When I asked about it, I was like, these aren't a gf version of fried chicken fingers and fries, and he's like no, they are the gf version. I'm not trying to be difficult. So I asked to just get something else, and he asked if I wanted the manager, I said no, I just wanted something else from the menu. She came anyway argued that the gf version of fried chicken fingers and fries is obv grilled chicken bc you can't make it fried. I was like, you can, and it's okay you don't, but I wasn't told that. She then said "true celiacs" that she knows wouldn't eat anything from new oil in her friers bc wheat flour could come from anywhere and get in anywhere. I just picked another meal and I think they comped it, but so weird.

Separate GF menu. I had a salad for an appetizer and the salmon for my entree. Both were good. My impression is it's somewhat safe, but I'm not super confident about it. It was worth it for me because of the history and atmosphere and I did not feel sick after.

This was the worst experience in a while, the waiter was extremely rude to my husband when he moved the table because condensation was dripping on him. Then when I asked about gf dressing his response was “I don’t know about this gluten free thing.” So I made sure he knew I needed to know so I didn’t get sick. When the salad came out it was whole leaves of lettuce that were wilted and slimy. My husband is not GF and he had the crab soup and said it had something crunchy in it and tasted off. I didn’t feel comfortable so we left.

Full size gf menu at lunchtime though I doubt that the buffet is safe (too hard too keep the gluten-y southern classics like fried catfish, macaroni, and fried okra away from the typically safe southern classics like collards, green beans, and assorted grilled meat). I had the shrimp alfredo over gf pasta and it was really good! No issues at all.
Great place, fantastic atmosphere, fresh seafood, large portion sizes, and reasonable prices 10/10 would recommend

While I had a decent meal - Salmon- and are safely one thing the reviews don’t mention - this is a definite tourist trap kind of place. In a city that reveres food, I was disappointed at it was all schtick. If you’re into hokey but safe this is your place. If you’re into a really good meal go elsewhere.
There is not a GF gumbo they have updated their GF menu so basically burgers and salads but the burgers are big , juicy, and delicious! And yes they have GF buns!
Yes
Separate menu available. No problem at all. Bartender was super friendly.
Yes
Delicious!! They had quite a few things to choose from. Staff was knowledgeable about gluten free menu. I had the Pirates House pecan chicken breast with veggies and sweet potato. Definitely should give this a try.
Yes
Food was delicious and the historic aspect of the restaurant made for a fun visit. I had the ribs with mashed yams and collard greens. No reaction after.
Yes
Dinner was great. They offered a wide selection of items on a special gluten free menu. Would definitely recommend eating here during your visit to Savannah! Make sure to explore the many “haunted” rooms of the restaurant as well (encouraged by the staff).
Yes
The selection was plentiful and delicious. Service wasn't awesome but the food more than made up for it.
Awesome service and a wonderful meal
The only reason I’m giving it one star is because our waiter was very sweet and understand and tried his best to fix everything he could. My husband has celiac and lactose intolerance. When we got there they gave us a gluten free menu that was pretty extensive and nice. We first ordered a shrimp scampi dish as an app. It came with bread on it even tho we ordered off a gluten free menu. They were very nice and remade the dish completely. Next my husband ordered baby back ribs and we made sure the mash potatoes didn’t have cream. Then came the plate with a pile of onion rings on the side. The kitchen must have not want to remake it that time so they just took the onion rings off. We still found crumbs of it on the other food and by that time we were just frustrated and asked for the check. They gave us of husbands food for free for some to eat later. I think the main issue is our waiter and none of the other ones had a paper pad to write orders on so it was just word of mouth to the kitchen. Was very disappointed because of how excited we were for the outing. Ended up just going to 5 guys and getting gluten free fires and a patty with no bun
No
Celiac family- they had separate menu, ordered GF Salmon BLT, very good. Only GF side was slaw, but good. Was told by server that GF had separate section in the kitchen. Food was good and did not get sick!

It was so nice to have a knowledge staff. My son is very sensitive and he had no issues.

Food was just ok. I would not go back. My husband even said his food was not that good and he likes almost anything.
Decent selection of gluten free items and they have a separate menu. Food was good, not great.
Yes
5* for knowledge af celiac and Bengal cautious about cc, but food was just okay with limited GF options on the lunch menu.
Yes
Amazing! Staff was extremely knowledgeable. Ask for the GF menu to order off of. We have two GF in the house and it was perfect and delicious

Gluten free menu full of choices - chicken, shrimp and more. Staff was super helpful! Portions are huuuge. Ordered the Pirates pecan chicken - mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. That syrup with the pecans in it was delightful on the chicken!

Ya’ll - they have an extensive gluten free menu (see picture). Everything was amazing. No reaction and I’m very sensitive. Waiter was amazing and knew his stuff. If in Savannah go eat here!!!!!

I had the grilled chicken with pecan syrup. It was AWESOME. Never felt ill & the restaurant was fun! My children loved wearing their pirate hats.

First, let me praise the restaurant for being excellent with food handling. They have a really great gluten free menu. My son was given fries with his meal and when brought to their attention they did bring mashed potatoes right out. The reason I gave it three stars was the service was mediocre and food was bland. It was a cool place though. The oldest tavern/ pub in Savannah. So if you are concerned about gluten and we are because we have celiacs, it is a safe place to go. They will absolutely take care of your health.
Yes
They have a separate gluten free menu and our waiter was knowledgeable. The food is actually surprising upscale.
Four stars because I told the waitress I was ordering from their extensive gf menu but my salad came with croutons. Not sure where the mixup happened. Picked the 5 croutons out and had no issues the next day.
Yes
Great staff, very knowledgeable. I was impressed with the number of menu options available that were GF. I felt comfortable eating there and had a wonderful meal

Waitress was not as knowledgeable as expected, but the food was very good. Would have liked a few more options for lunch as for the most part the only ones were sandwiches.
