I have multiple food allergies including gluten and our server Babette made ordering easy. She made recommendations on substitutions and double checked with the chef for safety. She even made sure I didn't use their straws, which contain gluten. Amazing experience!! I had the grouper, seasonal veggies and french fries. They recently got way to make delicious gluten free fries!
Gorgeous restaurant inside and out. Clearly marked gf menu. Not a whole ton of options, but my meal- a wedge salad and the salmon with shrimp risotto and asparagus- was really delicious, as was my cocktail. My server actually had celiac also and gave me a couple other recommendations around the island. Great experience!
I’m so sad. The staff was absolutely incredible and tried so hard to be accommodating but unfortunately, cross contamination won again. I ordered two things from the gluten free menu (lobster cocktail and the salmon) and noted my celiac with the managers and server. Both came up containing gluten on my NIMA sensor :(the only item I ordered that tested gluten free was the wedge salad. Also - be aware - their straws contain gluten so you need to ask for a special kind.
Surprisingly good food for a resort restaurant. Service was very good and our server was knowledgeable and careful about my daughter’s gluten concerns. GF items marked on the menu and her dish came marked with toothpick as a food without allergens. For dessert, since it was her birthday, they came up with a GF surprise dessert!
Tough staff. Ended up having lobster cocktail starter and baby greens/seed salad. No symptoms
We had a great lunch at Quarterdeck. The beautifully done space and water and lighthouse views are the best in Hilton Head. The GF menu options were clearly labeled and our waitress explained which non-labeled options could also be safely prepared with modifications. We enjoyed a salad with lobster and asparagus and redfish with beurre blanc, fingerling potatoes and roasted vegetables. Everything tasted great and felt very safe and well cared for.
Luckily our server’s MIL has celiac, so she was well versed in what was safe. Son opted for just a burger though with a GF bun. They also have a dedicated frier for the fries, so he was able to safely order fries for his side. She said he had other options too, but he was content with that. His burger did come to the table flagged with a special “allergy” flag too.
The rest of the main menu does have several options marked GF and it sounded like modifications could be made to several items too. Perhaps ask when being seated if there is a server that’s well versed in GF options. I did note it on our reservation that we had one GF person in the party.
Newly renovated quarterdeck is beautiful and inviting. While some here have said menu was somewhat limited with items marked gf - our waiter was so knowledgeable and he assured me I could get daily fish special and only swap out the potatoes - was one of the best pieces of fish I’ve had. We also had the roasted shrimp sans the bread. Highly recommend
I had a great lunch here. I told our waitress Stephanie I had celiac and she was very detailed and made sure to speak to the chef to ensure my lunch was Gluten Free. I had the salmon with asparagus. My three other family members who eat gluten enjoyed their meals. I am definitely looking forward to coming back again.
Very disappointed in this establishment. Flew in from Boston for my brothers surprise birthday dinner here. Called and left voicemails and emailed over 3 weeks and no one called or emailed me back. It’s newly reopened under new management. They need food safety training. Very limited GF menu. Not a dedicated fryer/kitchen space. Server whom my uncle knew from town highly recommended the salmon with risotto for me/celiac. I was sick within three hours. Should have gotten oysters and a shrimp cocktail. So disappointing and crazy expensive. Tried to call the next day to let them know that I’ve been cross contaminated but no surprise—no one answered. Gorgeous setting. Pass on the food. Go for cocktails and the sunset.
Options are marked but can be confusing on the sandwiches/burgers. They are not all gluten free just because you get a gf bun. The fries are really good, but the salad was lacking. It was a lot of lettuce basically but what little came on it was good. I really enjoyed the Thai wings. The dry rub was just okay. The low score was because service was horrendous. It took a long time for anyone to even acknowledge us to get seated. It glasses were constantly empty. We had to track someone down to get our check that came with no pen and went to the bar to ask for a pen to sign and the bartender was on a headset chatting with a friend while helping us.
