Really good meal. Waitress was well versed in what was suitable for celiacs. Fried items are off the table because of shared fryer. Menu is seasonal and uses local ingredients. I had the stone fruit and burrata salad and the grouper. Yummy!

Every experience I’ve had at river and rail has been fantastic. The staff are knowledgeable and/or always willing to check with chef.

R&R hosted a prix-fixe menu for NYE. We contacted the restaurant prior to making a reservation and chef was willing to adjust my dishes so that they would be gluten free and celiac safe. For what would be a busy night, I was so shocked that he was willing to do that and I am so grateful that I was able to experience a great & safe meal.

I love the seasonal menu and the drinks are great too.

Traveling through Virginia so decided to have dinner here! The staff was super friendly. The waitress was knowledgeable and on the couple of things she wasn’t sure if she went and asked the kitchen. We had brambles which were perfect. I had raw oysters and the hanger steak all prepared perfectly and no stomach issues after. Definitely recommend for gluten free just let them know you are gluten sensitive or if you have celiac disease like I do.

Staff was wonderful. I have gluten sensitivity. Had duck with Farro Verde. I asked for GF food and double checked 3 times. Did not use my nema b/c I was super hungry and food took a long time to come out. Now I am very itchy. Farro Verde is not GF. I should have looked up Farro Verde before eating it. The food was excellent otherwise and staff were great.

I did call on Monday night and spoke to a manager who assured me that the staff will be re-educated.

Staff was knowledgeable about cross contamination. Waitress knew of me having Celiac before we were seated (I called ahead of time to make sure I would be able to eat.) Excellent (safe) food and service!

This is by far my favorite restaurant. I’ve never felt more comfortable about ordering GF because they’re so understanding and respectful. Because of the food, though, even if I didn’t have Celiac this place would be my favorite. Everything I’ve had here has been absolutely heavenly!

My experience at The River and Rail was the best one since I was diagnosed almost 2 years ago. The wait staff was knowledgeable, friendly and understanding! I had included a note on my reservation that I was gf (Celiac) and the server was aware before greeting our table. Almost the entire menu could be made GF and I even had dessert!

The lamb sausage and lamb chops were excellent. The staff is knowledgeable and most of the menu options are GF or can be modified. Fresh ingredients and tasty drinks in a relaxing atmosphere.

A wonderful meal! Beautiful drum fish, shaved vegetable salad, heirloom carrots. But there many options, including various meats, root vegetables, and other seasonal sides. Knowledgeable staff from host to cook. I did make my usual phone call to the hostess before which helped get everyone on the same page BEFORE arrival.

Farm-to-Table, seasonally inspired restaurant. Many gluten free dishes. Helpful staff. Tonight I had wild striped bass with clam chowder and it was freakin' amazing.
