To be honest, I wanted to eat here because of the name, but was so pleasantly surprised that they had gluten free options that were DELICIOUS! I ordered the “Southerner” which was biscuits and gravy. It only came with one biscuit (wish there were two because it brought on all the good biscuit “feels”), but the sage gravy was phenomenal - so full of flavor! I also included eggs with my order, I believe they called it The Full Johnson. Highly recommend! **Be mindful though, this is not a dedicated kitchen!**

I think this is a safe place, but definitely ask. My boyfriend asked for the shrimp and grits and asked the lady at the front taking our order if it was GF, even though it was marked as such on menu. She said she'd check. She came back and said yes it could be made GF, but it did seem like the menu items as presented are not GF unless specifically asked to order it that way. He said the shrimp was perfect, the gravy/grits were amazing! He didn't eat the biscuit until a few days later but he thinks it was GF. It wouldn't hurt to confirm when the food comes out though, as the place was very, very busy and loud. I'm not GF and had the biscuit French toast with strawberries and cream and it was to die for!!

Food was good overall. My low rating has to do with safety and clarity of the menu and consistency with what the wait staff says. I had never eaten here, but saw the great reviews. Again good food, but be VERY careful when ordering and ask about everything and double check! The menu says GF (in green) next to items, but it does not specify that you need to specifically ask that it be made GF.
It is pay ahead. We ordered ‘The Ma’ and the ‘AVO Toast’ and just before I paid I said “The menu says GF, but I just want to double check to ensure these two are in fact GF”. The person taking may order said “No you have to specify that they are made that way. I’ll go check to see if we can do that.” He “made sure” both would be made GF.
When the meals arrived I double checked with the person who served us the food. Trying to ensure the lemon bread on ‘The Ma’ and the biscuit on the ‘AVO Toast’ was GF. She informed me the biscuit on the AVO is GF but the bread on ‘The Ma’ is not and that I would need to specify GF and that they would have just not served it with the lemon bread on top because only their biscuits are gluten free. I told her I did specify when I ordered. She said the order taker must have been confused.
They also up-charged a $1.00 for the GF biscuit, which generally happens but it does not specify the up charge on their menu.
Definitely be careful at this place! To me a big green GF next to the item should imply that it is made gluten free. Do not trust what the menu says ask questions as you order and clarify with the server when your food arrives.

Delicious food! The GF biscuits and gravy were very good. Recommend anything with their sage sausage. “The Pa” oatmeal was GF and delicious too. All their lattes were delicious, especially the cardamom vanilla. They have GF oat milk too. They do make gluten items in the same kitchen but are very knowledgeable.

Ate here for the first time this morning - delicious and safe options! Menu is clearly marked, staff is knowledgeable about cross contact, most dishes can be made gf, and they have a gf biscuits. I had The Benny and would highly recommend it. Rated 4 stars for safety since it is a shared kitchen

A dietary menu is available for multiple allergies. They serve gluten free biscuits and can make their gravy and other sauces gluten free upon request. Amazing customer service!

I need to be gluten free and was hoping I could eat here. They had a gluten free biscuit and the woman at the cashier (not the owner) new the ingredients of the gravy’s and recommended the vegan gravy as it was wheat free. They ended up having not enough biscuits for me order and one after me. One a VERY busy day, they had someone come out and clarify if it was a preference rot an allergy. Because it’s an allergy, they gave me the biscuit as the other patron was a preference. The food was amazing and other than being uncomfortable because I ate too much, I had NO reaction.

Restaurant is cute. Had the kitchen sink. The biscuit was dry and there was not very much gravy in the dish. Ordered my egg over easy and got a hard yolk. Was nice to have the option to eat where others in my group wanted to go, would order something else the next time.

If I could give zero stars I would. My husband emailed them and they said they would definitely accommodate someone with Celiac. My husband and I went in to the restaurant on a Friday around 2pm. We intentionally went when it was slow (they had 3 tables). We asked about gluten free and the guy was a jerk, laughed, looked around and said no way. I understand if he doesn’t want to accommodate but the attitude made the whole experience worse.

great food and fun enviorment. They do have a gluten free menu if you ask but they very likely have alot of cross contamination as the kitchen is small. I am feeling very full but just fine after having some gluten free biscuits and vegan gravy so yummy
