Found this great spot using this app . We booked weeks ago before we came out here on vacation.
We ordered the house made , basket of warm blue corn tortilla chips and " the trio " of salsa , queso , guacamole. All of which were delicious and we could've sat there forever noshing on them and the delicious margaritas of which there must be 30 varieties !
I had planned ahead to order the gf grilled shrimp thinking there was less of a chance of cross contamination as it was just grilled shrimp.
When we were seated I told our server I had Celiac and would like her help confirming my choices . She told me indeed the tortilla chips and the trio were safe and gf .
When we ordered dinner and I ordered the grilled shrimp , she held up her hand and said I should not order that as they grill garlic bread right next to the shrimp , so there was a high risk of cross contamination.
I thanked her and ordered the #6 ground beef tacos instead .
Apparently the garlic bread ( seemed odd to me in a Mexican restaurant)is an old New Mexico tradition, they use it to soak up the sauces that top many dishes 🤷♀.
Anyway my tacos were delicious. My husband had the #7 tacos that came with beans and posole . He loved it !
We had 3 margaritas each ( we were walking home to our air bnb ) and such a delicious fun evening , it's a hopping busy restaurant! I would totally recommend. Kudos to the young woman who was our server for the heads up @ cross contamination! Well trained staff for sure but always do your due diligence!
Also , plan ahead & make a reservation, you literally can't get in without it!
Definitely make a reservation! A very popular spot. Our server’s wife is a celiac and he was extremely helpful (even suggested other restaurants in Santa Fe that were celiac friendly). Had an enchilada and a taco for dinner. Blue corn tortillas were very good. Dessert menu is almost all gluten free. Had the cheesecake which was yummy.
Just wow! So delicious!! So many gf choices and our server, Ian, was awesome. He knew exactly what is gf and there are LOTS OF GF CHOICES! if you're in Santa Fe, better check out The Shed!!
Waitress super helpful and knowledgeable. Chips in a dedicated fryer. We had Queso and guacamole which were both amazing. My daughter had shrimp skewers (just ok) and I had veggie tamales (just ok as well). Chile is hot and there is an extensive margarita list (which is always a bonus). I would go back just for apps and drinks. Cute little place, great location, and we felt safe eating here.
Ate here based on the good reviews. Our waitress was knowledgable but not very friendly or welcoming to my questions. She said there was only a handful of items on the menu that had gluten. Chips and sauces were safe, as were enchiladas and several desserts. We got chips and queso, enchiladas with green chile, and margaritas. I felt okay afterwards but I am pretty sure there was no mark of Celiac/an allergy for the kitchen on our ticket.
Was very excited to eat here. Got here right when they opened. All patio tables were free and we had come by yesterday to assure we could eat on patio with our dog. Today, we were told the patio was closed per owner request. No other details. They wouldn’t even let us get take out and eat on the patio even though we told them we specifically came from afar to eat here. Very rude and poor customer service.
I was at the restaurant at 4:15 and was told it would be 7:30 before we could be seated. My husband and I went to the bar area but you can’t order food unless you are actually at the bar. People hang around to grab a seat when one opens up. I saw two people go for the same seat. My husband and I ended up doing takeout. Food was ok. I’m not sure why people are trying to go there unless you have gluten allergies.
Great New Mexican food and Santa Fe atmosphere. Awesome GF menu, with most items GF. The Shed is a Santa Fe experience, and I heartily recommend it.
I had a wonderful experience, my server confirmed my choices were gluten-free. Majority of the menu was clearly marked as gluten-free. Dinner was delicious! Service was wonderful, overall a great experience! I have been on a road trip from Grand Junction, CO through 3 Nationnal Parks in Colorado , through Taos, NM, today is my fifth day traveling, this is the first safe meal I have had in 5 days. The Shed lived up to its reviews.
Gluten free entrees list in the menu. The food is to die for and staff is very knowledgeable. Always call many days ahead and get reservations, otherwise you’ll be waiting. I had the chicken enchiladas with green chili and the cheesecake for desert. The Shed is making a ton of effort to provide a great gluten free dining experience!
Waiter was very knowledgeable and accommodating! The food was really good😊
So freaking good!!! The menu is so Gf friendly and soooo many options. Waiter super knowledgeable, and absolutely the best food I’ve had in a long time. I ordered 2 dishes to share with my hubby, whose not GF. Blue corn spinach enchiladas Christmas style, and 2 blue tortilla burritos with Christmas style. Also had Calabacitas, and the trio chips and queso, salsa, guacamole. Amazing yumminess, and great service- 100% worth it! Must go Ps had the margarita - very good
The wait to get in is long. To get on the waitlist for dinner show up at 3 and wait to get on the 5pm waitlist. It fills fast. Expect 2-4 hour wait times for larger parties. 2 top took about an hour to get in. I have never seen such an extensive selection of gf deserts on any none dedicated gf place. 90% of the menus is gluten free. All the dips are not labeled gf but are.
Delicious! Great options and it is marked on the menu. We had the posole, mushroom soup, kale salad, fire grilled shrimp, and 2 cocktail drinks. They make their mixes from scratch for the cocktails. You can sit at the bar if there is a long wait. They have a dedicated fryer. Neither of us had a reaction and the food was amazing!
Just go. One of the few places that has multiple options for green chili (shocking, I know) and the staff works hard to keep the meal safe. I forgot what I had, but it doesn't matter. It was delicious and seemed like it was authentic New Mexican cuisine--- exactly what I wanted. And i could eat the chips and queso. I wish we went again before we scooted out of town.
Top 3 Gf experience since I had to go gf 4/5 years ago!
Almost everything is gluten free and they know their stuff - how to recommend dishes, how to avoid cross contamination, how to inform the client, how to make you comfortable to safely eat there.
I ate there twice during my stay. Long lines so get on the waitlist as soon as you can (can’t remember for sure, but I think they start a list at 10:30).
Not dedicated gf, but the server seemed knowledgeable. Had the mole enchiladas and they were delicious and just the right amount of spiciness. The queso & chips (gf!) were so good I almost cried. Tasty/creative cocktails. Located in the heart of adorable town-center, tucked back in a rustic shopping area. Beautifully decorated, quintessential New Mexico. Bustling and lively (though pretty touristy) ambiance. Beware of long wait times; make reservations weeks in advance if you can.
This place is always crazy busy - I went on a Thursday night and they said the wait would be 3 hours (!) so definitely have a reservation. I was able to snag a seat at the bar and order dinner from there. I had the huevos rancheros without cheese, which made it gf/df. Very tasty! I ate there safely with no illness as a Celiac.
The staff was knowledgeable and very careful. The host warned me that they do their best, but it’s a small kitchen so there was a chance of cross-contamination. I was personally comfortable with the risk based on the precautions he described (clean pan, fresh utensils, etc.) and ended up having a great meal without getting sick.
