So we didn’t have a whole lot of options on places to eat this particular evening because it was the NCAA tournament weekend and Alabama was playing. Everyone had a 1-2 hour wait. So for convenience we chose the restaurant at our hotel. The waitress was very knowledgeable about gluten free and could direct me which meal might be best for me. Basically she said, “steak or salmon” Given I love a variety of foods I branched out and asked more questions. For appetizers the group of six we had asked for a Truffled Deviled Eggs, the Hummus with Pita bread on the side and the Tiger Shrimp and Avocado Ceviche. The waitress came back to let us know that the Hummus and Tiger Shrimp were made in contaminated areas and the only option for GF would be the eggs. So we opted for two Truffled egg appetizers. They were fabulous. For an entree I ordered the filet but it ended up being out of stock. I ordered the Ribeye medium rare and a baked potato. The Ribeye came out more medium well. I was disappointed to say the least. It had great flavor but very much over cooked for my liking. On the menu for sides was the baked potato and was supposed to come with green onions which I love and they were out of those also. So I had a baked potato with butter. I asked about Truffle Fries but they are in a shared fryer. I would say if given the choice, choose another establishment for gluten free, but if you were in A pinch like we were these two things only are your safest option.
