The menu has many gf options including delicious gluten free calamari. They have a dedicated frier! They offer gluten free flatbread and it’s made safely in a separate pan with separate sauce cheese and clean cutter. Several flatbread choices, so delicious! The tuna tacos are also gluten free made with corn tacos and were very good. This restaurant is part of a small restaurant group with their other restaurants in Pleasantville, Briarcliff Manor and Croton on the Hudson. The staff was so nice and accommodating. Nice atmosphere too
Incredibly safe for anyone with Celiac. Staff is all knowledgeable about cross-contamination. Have eaten about 80x here over last several years and NEVER been glutened! Food is very good and staff is incredibly kind and welcoming. Separate, gluten free fryer for French fries and other fried food. Flatbreads are very good. Highly recommended!
Phenomenal, celiac safe, gluten free food! We always have the best experience here…our waiter, Francesco, greets us with a big smile and tells my daughter that her favorite gluten free flatbread is waiting for her. How sweet is that?!? 🥹 While not a dedicated gluten free restaurant, gf items are clearly marked on the menu and they take cross contact precautions seriously.
Ate here and had no issues. I called ahead and they told me that they take GF allergies and celiac very seriously (when a place even knows what celiacs is, I feel like that’s a good sign) by changing gloves, cleaning surfaces and preparing things separately. But they did tell me it’s always good to call ahead before going in to let them know so they can be ready, which I appreciated. A pretty good selection of GF items on the menu, I got one of the flatbreads and it was really good. They also had a GF beer as well! Also it’s not listed on the menu but my server told me you can get GF bun with any of the sandwiches.
The waiter was extremely knowledgeable, and they clearly pride themselves on serving gluten free food carefully. They have a dedicated fryer and can do handcut fries, yucca fries, tuna poke nachos, and calamari all gluten free. (I was skeptical of the tuna poke, thinking they probably used soy sauce. When I asked the waiter if it had soy sauce, he said just tamari :) They know their stuff!)
They have marked on the menu which items are automatically gluten free (entree options include free range chicken, duck, steak frites, and filet). They also are willing to adapt most other items to be gluten free, like the lamb lollipops, which usually come with breadcrumbs but can be done gluten free upon request and are delicious.
All the food seems to be made fresh on site, and it was consistently tasty. Highly recommend, and we'll be back!
I have celiac and so I always ask many questions to the waiter about gluten free options. Our waiter at urban hamlet was so patient and helpful. I wanted fish tacos but the fish is typically gluten breaded. They made me salmon with GF breading along with corn tortillas. The tacos were delicious! I also had a butternut squash soup that was great. They also mentioned they have 3 different fryers… one dedicated gluten free, one dedicated vegan and 1-2 regular ones. I didn’t try the fries but plan to next time. I get very sick from gluten exposures and had no issue here. Highly recommend!
