No gluten free Mac and cheese, and they told me there never has been. That past review was inaccurate. Probably originated with an uninformed employee.
We did enjoy the southwest “beef” and mango bowl we got, which was marked gluten free on the menu and I asked for a glove change. The sweet potato fries are also marked gluten free so I assume there was a dedicated frier. (I hope! Should have asked!)
We aren’t super reactive so I’m hoping this was a safe eat.
Several GF options on the menu. Their Mac-n-cheese is GF if you ask them to hold the breadcrumbs, and totally delicious!
No the Mac and cheese is not gluten free. (Even if they hold the breadcrumbs!) that past post has bad information!
They have many gluten free options and my order was tasty. They sounded knowledgeable about gluten free prep, but they got busy, prepared meals piled up behind the counter and mine was brought to my table on a tray with other tables' food that very obviously contained gluten. Also, with a name like "Veggie Grill," I expected to be able to order something with grilled veggies, but the menu had a lot of meat substitutes and raw kale, so the name is a bit misleading.
As a vegetarian, I used to love Veggie Grill in my pre-celiac days. Last week I placed an online order--the Far East Thai Chik'n bowl with the protein swapped out for tofu (which should have been GF)--and I flagged it as a gluten allergy. A worker immediately called me to say there was cross contact on their production line, so they couldn't fill the order. (I specifically ordered a bowl because they're usually the safest option at restaurants.) I see that another reviewer reported a dedicated gluten free fryer and gave it high marks, so maybe it just depends on what you order, but I'd be sure to ask questions if you go here.
