A few months ago, Tookie’s Burgers added a gluten-free bun, and it’s only 99 cents extra! Based on the flavor and the size, my guess is that it’s a commercial Udi’s bun, which is better than the store-bought ones in my opinion.
I’m going to be honest and say that I didn’t ask about their kitchen precautions. The first time that I went, I was severely under the weather and was willing to risk it. That being said, I’ve *never* had an issue in the half-dozen times that I went, and I am someone who is sensitive to cross-contamination. Their staff is also super friendly and the type that would be willing to look into things/give you an ingredients list if asked.
It’s wonderful to have a flavorful option, with a real-sized bun, at an affordable price. While I wish that I could have fries there, the burgers are large enough to make a meal from and are so flavorful! I have brought a mini bag of chips with me before so that I have a side. 😊 Side note: they do have chili, but since I can’t have tomatoes, I’ve never asked if it’s gluten-free, if they use beer in their chili, etc.)
