Review of Trouble and Strife

NB: this is a fantastic cafe with the best tea ever and lovely people serving. I understand they do a lot for the community and for the environment, so everything I am about to say only reflects my experience as a person with Coeliac Disease. Please do spread the word to your friends who are gluten tolerant to support this amazing little place.

I attended with a non-gluten-free person. The only gluten free option was a cake, which was kept on the bottom shelf of a cabinet containing non-gluten-free food with no separation. Consequently I just had a black tea (and I tell you… I would give up coffee for this tea, it was so amazingly, outstandingly good) with sugar… and I still got glutened! I can only think it was the sugar… it was a brown powder unlike any other brown sugar I have seen…. it may have been coconut sugar, which is sometimes cross-contaminated with gluten. So unfortunately, this place is in no way Coeliac safe. Bummer! I want more of that tea!!
