Lovely place. Lovely staff. Delicious food, safely prepared! We had a late Sunday lunch at Tryst. The cafe was busy so we took a chance with patio seating despite the heat. We were very comfortable in the shade, with the misters running. Our orders were taken quickly and our server was very knowledgeable about cross contamination and order modification. Some restaurants offer safe gluten free food but options are limited to a beautiful salad or a pizza. Tryst had a wide variety of safe options from gorgeous burgers to vegetarian appetizers and everything in between for diners of any palate. Prices were very reasonable. Please go enjoy this beautiful gem!
Many of the items listed on the menu say it is gluten free however they are not, you have to ask for the gluten free options and up charged $2 for a gluten free bun (although all sandwiches and burgers say it is GF). Even one of the wraps with a wheat tortilla or brioche bun said it was gluten free. Service was not great. Food mediocre, I have a gluten intolerance and felt sick after eating
Love this place! I’m from out of town and needed food ASAP. Staff is very knowledgeable about making sure everything is gluten free. Everything is labeled correctly and they request you say it before you order. I had the pork adobo tacos and they are to die for! So delicious and it’s so much food for only $11! Can’t recommend this place enough! There are countless GF options for cheap, even for kids!
I've been here twice in the past couple years. Each time, the waitresses never smile, they act like they hate their jobs, they roll their eyes when you ask for a refill or for a condiment that isn't on the table.
Their prices are a little steep as well.
It's too bad too, because the food is good and the restaurant is modern and inviting. I actually love the feel of it. This is what kept me from only giving them 1 star.
I may give them a try in another year. If nothing's changed by then, that will probably be the last time I go.
Idk how it doesn't have five stars for gluten free. It has an amazing variety of gluten free options. The only thing that sucks is that the fries aren't gluten free but otherwise there's gluten free French toast, pancakes, waffles, buns, bagels, bread
This use to be a local go to place for me, unfortunately I got sick from the most recent GF salad therefore beware of cross contamination problems!
Everything on their menu can be gf some with minor substitutions! Which is why I gave so many stars, it's soley for the variety. Just make sure your waitor knows that you have a serious allergy and they will take care of you. I've never had an issue. They're just very expensive, however they use very good organic ingredients so you get what you pay for. I was so excited when my husband surpised me with their gf pancakes one morning. I woke up to a delicious take out breakfast! I didn't know there was any restaurant around that had gf pancakes until then. My negetives about this place have to do with the staffs attitudes. They could be frendlier. And there has been an issue before about unknown charges and innacuracies in the order on the bill that they wouldn't work with you on. They only get 2 stars for that aspect. Personally, as far as the attitude goes, I think it's just the area. You're going to get your entitled, above actual work, better than everyone, poor ethics mentality from teenage employees the closer you get to Scottsdale and the more "organic" the restaurant is. It tends to be the mentality in these sorts of places unfortunately. Not all, but definitely in a certain niche of them.
I love the food, do not like the atmosphere at all. Also the service is poor and the owners/managers have never apologized or offered to take anything off our bill for the food being wrong, taking so long to get it etc. It is an awesome place for Gluten free food. But be prepared for bad service.
For instance, came in on a Friday. Asked about the fish special, they said they could make the baked fish to my liking as I have a wine allergy. It was all you could eat. Waited a long time for my first two little pieces (the sides for GF are not great at all) asked for more and it was a half hour and asked what was going as no one even came to tell us anything. Finally the waitress said the chef was not happy with the way the fish came out so he made them do it over. We had been there over an hour already, I was still hungry and the fish was pricey. We had to leave. The waitress said it wasn't her fault the kitchen was backed up! We paid the bill and left. I emailed the restaurant and posted on FB and never heard anything back from them. I am heart broken as this place is the best for people with food issues. And it is very close to my house, not much up here that is nutritious and many options.
GF options do not include French fries. We were told the fryer is used for everything. The menu is sketchy because many things are listed as "GF" but that simply means you have to order something else like fruit instead of fries and so on. There aren't many options for kids who are Celiac.
Everything tasted fine however, my son, who is Celiac and had a burger (supposedly GF) was sick 2 hours later.
We won't be back.
I've been here a couple times. I'm not impressed with the service. The food is good. Orders are small and pricey but good.
I felt like we were burdening them both times we went. That was even before we ordered. Probably won't go back. There are too many other places to choose from that are gluten free.
I have celiac disease and ate here two different times for dinner. First time was just fine I had the fish tacos, the second time a portobello sandwich with no bun and added chicken with aioli pesto sauce. The day after I felt awful. I know what it feels like to be contaminated and that is how I felt. I would NOT say this is celiac friendly.
TRYST CAFÉ has a full menu of gluten-free items that will tantalize your taste buds. The Hawaiian breakfast consists of soft jasmine rice, Kailua pork (named after the method of cooking and where it came from, not the alcoholic beverage), cooked shredded cabbage, an over easy egg and a gluten-free soy reduction to finish it off. Once you have enjoyed this breakfast, it will be hard to beat.
Went for breakfast yesterday and had a great waitress (Sam). Great food. Both gf and glutenous food. Highly recommend.
Great food. One of the few places that hasn't gotten me sick! Staff is friendly and understands food issues. Grass fed beef, pastured chicken. The salads and spring rolls are the best!
Lots of options. VERY expensive. Wish I Service is very hit and miss and order more often I correct then correct. But at least there are options.
Very knowledgable and helpful! They're willing to substitute whatever they can to make their already large gf menu even bigger, and will warn you about anything with cross contamination. I order take out from here whenever I have to stay late at school and I am always pleased! It's also a great place to grab some gf pancakes and a smoothie in the morning!
udis bread and amazing spring roles. great atmosphere. one of the best that has gluten free food! gluten free cider!
Great all-around cuisine. Aside from the atmosphere, What I love about this place is that I don't feel awkward having to ask for a special menu. All GF items are marked and my friends who do not eat GF enjoy every bite as well. a great little place!
