What a GREAT find for me. They are a dedicated Gluten Free facility and the food is AMAZING!!!! What a treat for me to have French toast that was soft and chewy like glutened bread... Even my husband is has no issues would eat there anytime - it’s that good! Breakfast, Lunch and Dessert!!!! Delightful
MY FAVORITE PLACE!! The pulled pork sandwich is amazing and I have tried a new sweet treat every time I’ve been and have never been disappointed. My only suggestion would be for them to open up more locations!!!! I think Wellesley could use a dedicated gluten free facility:)
Everything is gluten free! I order my birthday cake here every year (Boston cream cake with chocolate ganache) and it is to die for. My partner and I also go on the weekends every month or so to stock up on goodies. Their chicken salad is the best anywhere, and their bread is the best I’ve ever had. I’m not talking just best GF bread. I’m talking best bread I’ve ever had. Period. The hand pies are amazing. The fudgey brownies are amazing. The eggs Benedict is excellent but is unfortunately only available during brunch hours. The only thing I don’t like here is the coffee but there is a Starbucks down the street. And they certainly make up for mediocre coffee with incredible everything else. A must-try for anyone—GF or not.
I am a highly sensitive celiac. Twist is supposed to be completely gluten free. I went there to buy bread because I believed that it was not likely to be cross-contaminated. I purchased a loaf of bread for $12. I had a sandwich for lunch and had a gluten reaction later that day. I used my portable gluten sensor (NIMA) to test the bread and found gluten in it. I called the manager and let her know what happened. She seemed to be very concerned and asked for the remainder of the bread to be brought back to be tested. I am hoping it was just a glitch and they would remedy the issue, but for now I am marking this place as “unsafe.”
Had been wanting to try this place for a while, and I was sadly disappointed. It was very busy, the line was out the door, people just seem to hold a table as soon as someone gets up. There weren’t any menus out, it wasn’t until I got up to the counter that I was able to look. I ordered the pancakes, with bacon and eggs. The pancakes were very undercooked and they put some butter sauce or something on them and it made them totally soggy. My eggs were very over cooked. I forgot to order a goodie from the case and the line was too long to wait in again. They have a great menu and I would go back and try something different, perhaps from the lunch menu.
You know when someone tells you about a cruise they went on and they tell you all of the horrible things that happened and how terrible it was, but then they say, "I can't wait to go on another one!"? This is a lot like Twist. The food is safe(which is HUGELY important) and good, but there are so many negatives and challenging features. The food is expensive and some portions are very small. For example, the burger, though delicious, is not much bigger than a slider. And like many other dishes at Twist, you get to "customize" it which really means spend money to add cheese and other toppings that should probably come with it to begin with(the egg sandwich is the same way). FYI, they have inexplicably been out of the fries that come with the burger for months, but there's no reduction in price. The ordering process is inefficient and if it's your first time there you would have no idea what to do. Workers are always working hard, but because of the way they take and fill orders, you could be the second person in line and easily wait five or ten minutes just to order. There is limited seating which can be very stressful especially on a busy weekend. And there is no system for getting a table when a seat opens, so someone who hasn't waited can just walk in and grab the first empty table. Staff and management are friendly, but there is a definite sense that the customer doesn't come first. The food typically takes a while to come out, too. But, the food is safe. And it's good. The bakery items are very, very delicious. If you've never been to Twist, you should definitely go, but be aware that there are a lot of things about it that will probably be negative. The taste of the food probably won't be one of them. It feels like if Twist had any competition in the area they would either not have lasted as long as they have or they would have been forced to make many changes.
After trying some of their food at a couple of gluten free expos we finally took a ride out to Twist. I was so excited to try it but left disappointed. I feel the setup is confusing. There are menus in a basket by the door. I wasn't sure if we took one to a table and there was table service. I asked an employee wiping down tables and she told me that we ordered at the counter. Being unfamiliar with the menu and with no menu at the register, it was awkward ordering. My husband and I ordered burgers and my son ordered a breakfast sandwich. He asked what the soup of the day was and he was told they didn't have soup. The employee kind of indicated that they didn't have it in the summer. As he looked for another side (he brought a menu to the register with him) she told him that they didn't have any fries. Our burgers were supposed to to come with fries and she never told us they didn't have them. I asked for "chips and a pickle", a side item listed on the menu, but she seemed to have already put that in as a substitute without telling me. Our food came in a timely manner. It was very tasty. The rolls for the burgers were great. However, the burgers were tiny! Mine had a very thin slice of cheddar on it. As I looked at my plate with the tiny burger, potato chips and a pickle spear I was not thrilled that I had paid $12 for that meal. My son's breakfast sandwich ended up costing $8.50. He said it was good but nothing special. When we went to leave we weren't sure what to do with our dishes. Nothing was on disposable plates, which is great for the environment! We left our used plates on the table but felt like we shouldn't have since there was no table service. We decided to look at the baked goods before we left. I had planned to buy a few things to bring home with me, I even brought my cooler because we weren't going home right away. The prices were so high that my son and I just ended up getting one thing each to have as a dessert on the way to our next stop. As we were waiting to order, I noticed an employee taking our dishes to an area towards the that seemed to be for customers to put their dishes in. It was not obvious and I felt terribly that we hadn't taken care of our own dishes...I would never leave a table for someone else to take care of if we could do it ourselves! The food was good but we spent $49 and change on 2 Poland Spring waters, a soda, a breakfast sandwich on a corn tortilla, two tiny burgers with potato chips (out of the bag type...not even house made), a whoopie pie and an individual sized key lime pie. I know there is the comfort of a dedicated kitchen but we've eaten plenty of places that have great reputations for being safe for celiacs that are a far greater value. I really wanted to love Twist...I really did but it just wasn't what I expected.
The best place around for people with food allergies! Every single thing is gluten free, as well as nut (except coconut) free. Every bakery item is labeled whether or not it contains dairy, soy, coconut, etc. The lemon bars are my absolute favorite. We get loaves of bread and bulkie rolls to take home because they’re so good! Not dry like most gf breads. The restaurant never disappoints and they are super helpful when it comes to figuring out options for people with additional allergies. And now they are #1 gf bakery in the country!!
I haven't ever had so many choices since having to go gluten free! I wanted to buy everything! I'm so grateful there are places like this! I'm traveling from Georgia and will make it a mission to come here every time we go to the Cape to visit!! Amazing friendly service! She was so nice and helpful I wanted to hug her! Everything we bought was delicious!!
This place turned me into a customer for life. The owner is so kind and friendly. They even brought out water and a biscuit for my pup. Not to mention the food is the best I’ve had since my celiac diagnosis. It is, without a doubt, the best GF bakery and restaurant in the country. What’s more, I live in Boston - about 45 minutes away. One time I drove to Twist and hit an extra 45 minutes of traffic and came 6 minutes after closing. Although they couldn’t help me, the owner was so gracious when I asked her if there is delivery options instead. She replied that there are AND they offered me a coupon for the lost time, even though it was mostly my poor time management. Love this place!!! Everything is 100% GF. No reaction ever.
This food was amazing! I was attracted because EVERYTHING is gluten AND nut free (except coconut). It's hard fining a place with both of my allergens completely off of the menu. I ordered the meatball panini sandwich and my boyfriend got the pulled pork Cuban and we split both. SO good. The bread is soft and goes with the rest of the sandwich perfectly. For dessert we split a piece of their lemon loaf and a chocolate cupcake. We completely splurged, but it was worth it. Definitely going back for more!
Cafe part is ok, but bakery makes some weird combinations that don't fit.I have to eat gluten free but don't want to also eat dairy free. If you have a lot of allergies or your lifestyle requires you to eliminate all of the food allergens, then this place may be ok. I also have a problem with soy and have noticed that many products contain soy. I know of a much better bakery.
Great place! I am Gluten Free and Dairy Free. They are a GF, Nut (except coconut), and a Peanut free dedicated space. The food was tasty! I had French toast, eggs, bacon, and some fruit with hot chocolate (used coconut milk) and orange juice. My husband who isn't GF LOVED his meal. We will be back!!!
Hands down the best bakery ever!!! My boyfriend doesn’t have a gluten issue like me (celiac and extremely sensitive to gluten) and he loves everything that we have ever ordered. All of the flavors are there and the textures are like textures that you would hope for. I really hope that they open up another shop closer to Boston so more people can experience what gluten free should taste and feel like!
If you haven't been here yet what are you waiting for? This place is wonderful. There has yet to be an item here that I haven't enjoyed. Everything is gluten free! They are also great with other allergies too. Just let the staff know what you can't have and they will help you find something delicious. Wether you're craving sweet or savory they have you covered with tons of choices. They also have lunch and dinner options. On your way out don't forget to grab a loaf of bread or rolls you will thank yourself later. It's well worth the drive and the money! Can't recommend this place enough!
This place is amazing! They have a large selection of gluten free savory dishes to take home- breaded chicken, chicken pot pies, Mac and cheese balls?!? Along with all kinds of sweets- muffins, cookies, cupcakes, cake pops, cinnamon rolls, fresh loafs of bread, and so much more. Then they have food made fresh- great breakfasts including eggs Benedict on their English muffins, French toast, and a huge lunch menu with sandwiches and other dishes. I'm sure I'll be coming back here often!!
I would have given this place 5 stars if I were just to judge my experiences with their quality of foods that I've had catered. They did my wedding (apps, desserts & wedding cake) and everyone, including my non-gf friends and family were impressed. Most recently tho, we've had some not so great experiences with them, as if some people working there may not be so into it as perhaps the owners are. The fact that they actually have a dedicated gf business, offer so many options, and are so allergy conscious in general, I'd have to recommend this place. I should also mention that I've never been sick and I am very sensitive.
