I tried this place based on previous reviews and ended up confused about how it got five star reviews. The waiter didn’t understand what I meant when I asked for gluten free so he got the manager. The manager told me that he couldn’t really guarantee any items were gluten free. I mentioned that I had read reviews that they had gluten free options and he said he has had other customers come in saying the same thing and he wasn’t sure why because that’s not something they can really do. He said the chips are fried in a shared fryer and the meat is all marinated in soy sauce. He was friendly and as helpful as could be but just really didn’t have options to offer as it’s not something they really do. He said the beans and corn tortillas should be gluten free but couldn’t really guarantee anything. I ended up not eating and just sitting as the rest of my party had dinner because I didn’t feel it was safe to eat here. My husband (with no food restrictions) said the food was really good. They were friendly and it was a nice restaurant inside. So I’d say it’s a great restaurant but not for gluten free.

First let me say this is the kind of hole in the wall place that doesn't have a gluten free menu, that said, the owners are extremely helpful and will to talk you through everything. I have eaten here for 21 years (as long as I have been around) and way before I went GF. This is also the best Mexican restaurant I have ever been to, and I have been to a lot. Their chips and queso are gluten free and so is their charro bean soup. If you come here seriously try the soup! It's to die for.You can ask them to substitute anything with flour tortillas for corn. There are of course a few limitations (their brown gravy is one as well as the desserts) to what you can get (I mostly go for the beef fajitas) but it is to be expected. Also their Pina colada is the best.If you are looking for great Mexican place that isn't a chain this is the place to come. Seriously try it and don't be afraid to ask the staff questions.
