There is a separate GF menu containing pancakes & French toast. I’m also DF so I couldn’t try them. I had the Cape May Plate which was 2 eggs, hash browns, a breakfast meat & GF toast. The eggs are cooked with vegetable oil, not butter. The server was knowledgeable about cross contamination and did let me know that although they clean the grill before making anything GF, they can’t guarantee it’s celiac safe. She also let me know they use the same toaster for GF & regular breads.
Very risky place for sure. My sister was adamant about trying it. Waiter warned toaster and waffle iron are shared. He said pancakes would be safest since they use a separate area of the griddle. I chose a breakfast sandwich with untoasted bread just in case. No reaction from sandwich. The effort to have gf waffles and toast is nice but wish it could proper preparation for celiacs. My sister whom doesn’t have immediate ramifications said gf pancakes were delicious 🤷🏻♀🙈
They have a GF menu, but they warn they do not have GF dedicated grill. I asked for my pancakes to be made in a pan and not on the grill. I was there at 7am, right when they opened. Our waitress said that mine would be the first ones on the grill so they did not use a separate pan. I did not get sick (yet), but unless you are going at 7am this is a RISKY choice.
If I could give it 1/2 a star, I would...and that would only be because the waitress (who has a family member with Celiac) said that if you have Celiac, don't eat anything that is cooked. I had hot tea and a fruit cup. She opened a new can of fruit and used a new spoon for me. No protection from cross contamination. GF waffles are made on same waffle iron as regular. GF pancakes are made on same griddle as reg pancakes. Not sure why they bother. They are just feeding into fad dieters and making it worse for those with medical issues. UGH!
The gf menu has waffles on it, but the server informed me that they were cooked on the same waffle iron as the non-gf waffles. I knew I could not take that chance, so ordered the pancakes and was told the grill is cleaned between batches. The gluten free pancakes were very good, but there is a disclaimer on everything stating that the kitchen is used to make reg pancake batter and that the grill (not griddle) is not separate, so I was skeptical to try the grilled items since I get a severe reaction. I appreciate that restaurants are trying to accommodate a gluten free diet, but if it is not Celiac safe, I wish they would make that more clear from the start because it is a bit disappointing and confusing. They offer gf bread and rolls.
Yum. Enjoyed the gf waffles, French toast, blueberry pancakes and chocolate chip pancakes
GF pancakes and waffles. Very best we've had out. Definite place to hit for breakfast. All locations offer them as well.
