My experience here was solid! I ordered the basic burger (I added cheese) and sweet potato fries with the chipotle mayo type sauce. I was happy that they have gluten free buns and mark each item if it is or can be made gf. I was *delighted* that everything that goes in the fryer is gf! Did not get sick afterward either. Overall, this was a satisfying experience, and I’ll be back. In fact, I’ll now attempt to steer my gluten eating friends to Uneeda Burger too, since we can both eat well here!
EDIT: I heard there was a change in ownership and now it is apparently not so safe:(( Have yet to see for myself but sad.
So many options - one of the few places where everything in the fryer is GF (onion rings, fries, sweet potato fries, etc) AND you have multiple choices for the burger! I think they used to only say their fries were in a dedicated fryer, but now EVERYTHING in the fryer is (even the “special”, fried green beans, were safe!).
I have eaten here for a while, and have felt safe as a celiac. However, last fall they had switched the labeling on a burger that I had ordered, and wrote GF on my partners fried chicken sandwich. I took 2 bites and noticed the bun seemed different. Always a risk eating as a celiac when there is gluten in the kitchen! Paid for the mistake for about 2 months of recovery. They are knowledgeable and working hard to serve celiac community, but this really stunk!
I don’t understand the positive reviews. I went in yesterday and saw the line cooks holding a bun in one hand, pick up a burger, put it on the bun and then reach into the shared toppings containers with the same hand and place them on the burger. One of the waiters moved a burger on a plate by picking it up by the bun and then touched all of the fry orders in waiting with the same hands. The food looked great but there was cross contamination all over the place. It’s a shame because it has so much potential.
They may be able to accommodate you if they are not busy but if there are others in line I’d avoid this place at all costs. I ended up only being able to order fries (no burger because they informed me that when they’re busy there are ‘buns everywhere’ on the griddle). And the n my order never came out and I had to cancel my order and ask for a refund. Do not recommend.
All the fryers are GF! Sweet potato fries, onion rings, and tempura vegetable (selection in rotation) are all GF and good. Their GF buns are a good kind that holds up well to the chunky burgers. This place sources their meats carefully and it shows in the flavor (and the price 🤷♀ but it's worth it) I love Uneeda!
Went with some friends, none of who have celiacs. They were very clear about what is and isn't gluten free, were confident in their answers. I ordered the philly on a GF bun and the sweet potato fries - the person taking our order warned me the sweet potato fries were tossed in cornstarch before frying s they might look coated but that the coating was GF.
Everything was delicious and I had no reaction or issues afterwards!
Best customer service I have ever had. Awesome people. Great location. The food is epic. Be prepared, fries and such are sold separately.
GF buns and GF chili all really good food. Beware cross contamination
Uneeda Burger is the perfect spot in the summer for that casual backyard feel; sitting at a picnic table on an open deck sipping on a float or milkshake, but when you don't want to cook or clean up. Gluten-free friendly, just add $2 for a gluten-free bun that tastes good and holds up to to the burger and toppings. Just decide on locally sourced beef, chicken breast or veggie patty, then, the harder decisions begin - the toppings. Ranging from caramelized onions to truffled shoestring potatoes, just double check which toppings do not contain gluten from beer or flour.
Very good burgers, but definitely not one dollar sign. Pretty expensive, but worth it if want a delicious burger
They were VERY accommodating of my gf needs and it's great that they have a gf bun but I still got sick after having one of their burgers. They did warn me that the burgers are cooked on the same grill as their buns and I took the chance. I would say if you're not super sensitive give them a try.
